I closed my suitcase, packing the rest of my clothes in the closet again, before taking my sweatshirt off and climbing into my bed knowing it was already late and we needed to be up early due to the flight. Shuri had this obsession with doing everything super early, it was annoying.
I pulled up my sheets, making myself comfortable but got startled by the sound of some whispers right in front of my door. I got up, running silently towards the door, trying to hear anything, but nothing... I twirled the doorknob, slowly openeing the door, and sneaked my head out in the dark. Nothing. I chuckled to myself, as I felt a hand grabbing my wrist, my mouth opened, but before the sound of panic was able to come out of it, another hand blocked it turning me around, and making me face Shuri.
"Shh Shhh" her eyes were wide open trying to calm me down "Don't scream. It's me" she whispered.
I closed my eyes noticing the wetness in them, pure fear and panic were running through my whole body, my hands and legs shaking. I took a deep breath before opening them again.
"I'm so sorry" she mumbled pulling a lock of my hair behind my ear.
I took a few seconds to calm myself, noticing my body was still stuck in the exact same position for the whole time. I took one last deep breath, before looking at her again "What are you doing here?!"
"I didn't think it through" she pressed her lips against each other.
"You scared the shit out of me" I whispered looking around searching for someone.
"After our little... moment" she smiled at me "I was trying to get some sleep, but I failed at it".
"Oh so now you know the feeling" I smirked at her making her roll her eyes "being sober doesn't help"
"Yeah yeah" she rolled her eyes "anyway... I was laying in bed, and I kept thinking... how easier would it be tomorrow, if we stayed in the same room... No need for me to come to wake you up, or for us to meet halfway..." she had a sneaky smile in her lips. "If would we just stayed in the same room tonight".
"Is that right?" I chuckled at her serious expression "I mean.. all the morning trouble would be avoided indeed" I shook my head agreeing with her.
"Right?!" she said like I was saying something groundbreaking. "So...let's go" she whispered with her a smile on her lips, before pulling me by my arm into her bedroom.
I had never been in her room. It was all in tones of white and beige, surrounded with technology, but still very ethnic in decoration. I looked around noticing her piles of files, probably research she would bring up here. Shuri was wearing some grey sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt, she looked so good. I followed her, laying next to her, for the first time not knowing what I should do. I stayed there looking at the ceiling for a few seconds before she turned to me.
"What are you doing?" she laughed making me sigh.
"Shit. I don't know. We never... slept together!" I rumbled feeling the most awkward I had ever been.
"For Bast's sake" she covered her eyes with her hand for a laugh "Don't worry. It won't happen anything!" she smiled at me, making me feel a little less anxious "Just... come here" she whispered rotating me by my waist, facing her and pulling me in. My face fit in her neck, her chin leaning against my head. She twirled her leg around mine and used one of her hands to gently trace some lines along my back. The awkwardness I had felt moments before, had long disappeared. We fitted so well. It was like a little puzzle, everything was right where it was supposed to be. I closed my eyes, sniffing her perfume, feeling her pulling me more against her.
"See? Not that hard genius" she whispered against my forehead, before kissing it gently.
"Not at all" I smiled at her.
And there we stayed, for minutes, until we both fell asleep, the most comfortable and safest I had felt in months.
