I closed my eyes as the sun burn my face and the gentle breeze touched my skin as gently as possible making me shiver a bit. I was sitting on a cliff, the one some locals had shown me on my very first week in Wakanda. It was terrible to get there, but the view made everything so worth it. I could see the ocean right in from of me and on my right the sight of the village, where people would gather around, selling their products all day. There was no music, but I could swear it was almost as if the whole city had its own soundtrack.

I got up, making my way down the hill, carefully trying not to fall or hurt myself, since coordination wasn't really my strength. My feet were made to stay still at a library, or in a greenhouse, not climbing rocks without any support whatsoever. I made it to the village without a scratch with a proud sense of myself and ran towards the lab excited to tell Shuri.

Every time I would pass through the main hallway that lead to the lab, I smiled and said Hello to every Dora that was on duty, but they never smiled back. In the beginning, I thought they all hated me, but later Okeye explained to me, that those were their instructions...Quite like in London I thought.

The glass doors slid right open for me as my eyes searched for Shuri all around the room, finding her at a corner sitting down, focusing on something involving a microscope and a ton of metal things around her.

"hey" I whispered trying not to scare her.

"Y/N hey " she smiled turning around in her chair "What are you doing here?"

"I was on that cliff.. you know.. the one that makes my lungs want to die" I chuckled making her smile at me "And I thought that maybe you would be done by now, and we could... I don't know... hung out..?" I felt my eyes turn to the floor as she stood up.

" I would love to... But..." her eyes squeezed " A friend of mine is coming over today, I haven't seen her in a long long time, and she finally got the time to visit"

I felt so embarrassed.

"oh sure. I'm sorry!" I run my hand through my hair smiling.

"But I was actually going to call you, to ask if you wanted to join us" She smirked looking down at me. I was a bit smaller than her, not much, but enough for her to have to look down.

"Oh.. yeah! Sure! I would love to" A smile grew on my face "but are you sure you guys don't want to be alone.. catch up and shit..."

"oh c'mon... if I'm inviting you to come along don't play so hard to get " a mischievous smile formed on her lips making me blush a bit.

"Shut up!" I laughed "So, I'm just gonna take a shower, and get dressed and I'll be down in a few minutes then"

"Sure" she smiled grabbing my hand. My eyes froze on that image for a few seconds. Her hands were so soft, and they looked so good touching mine. Her eyes were focused on my face, maybe trying to analyze my expressions, but I couldn't move. "Go on then... hurry " she smiled as her hands finally let go.

I smiled back, not saying a word, turning my back and carefully walking out of the room trying not to tear anything down. It had happened once, and it was the most awkward day since I had arrived.

I walked home, passing people who would greet me, and smile showing genuine affection, something I wasn't used to at home, but everything here was different.

"Yo Y/N!" I hear her raspy voice calling me as I walked down the hallway that led to the patio. "Come".

I smile at the image of her, she was wearing some white trousers and a Hoodie, looking as good as always. Next to her was a girl. Smaller than her as well, with braids on her hair and the sweetest smile ever. I nervously walked towards them as my heart started to pump faster.

"This is Riri Williams," Shuri said "My friend"

"Hi girl" Riri smiled coming in for a hug. God, she smelled so good "Nice to meet you. Shuri told me about you"

"Oh, she did?!" I raised an eyebrow looking at Shuri.

"How couldn't I? The American girl In Wakanda, and only one who doesn't seem to know any gravity laws!" A chuckle came out of her mouth.

"Oh shut up... It's not my fault, my body doesn't know to stand still, and my feet don't know how to walk" I glanced at Riri.

We made our way to a set of tables outside, already with some drinks on it.

"So.. How did you two meet!?" I asked taking a sip, nervously waiting for an answer I didn't want to hear.

"Oh... it's a long story" Shuri said, her eyes glancing at Riri, without a smile.

"It was a few years ago... Shuri saved me actually. " Riri crossed her leg and placed her hand on Shuri's arm. "Can I tell her?!"

She just shrugged her shoulders not looking up. I didn't like the void in her eyes.

"When I was in college, I developed a metal searching machine... including Vibranium. So apparently, there was this underwater community, that was mad, 'cause, Wakanda wasn't the only country that had Vibranium. Long story short... the Talokan people wanted me dead. And Shuri saved me" she sighed not taking her hand off Suri.

I glanced at Suri, her eyes were facing the floor, her curls blocking them, I felt my heart tightening at her vulnerable figure. Shuri had told me about her mother, but never the full story, and I didn't need to be a genius to connect the dots.

"And since then, she kept telling me that she'll visit me in Boston, but... she never does " Riri chuckled trying to lighten the mood. "She's always locked up in her lab".

"I know! I've been asking her to show me around, but she loves that lab" I rolled my eyes as Shuri looks up at me with a smirk on my face.

"I'm just trying to prevent you from hurting yourself babe"

Babe. That forbidden little word, made my stomach come alive every single time. Her lips were already curled up, a smile emerging from her, as Riri took her hand off her arm.

There was something bothering me. Were they friends or... I mean... Shuri saved her life. It's more than understanding the relationship they had.

God knows, it didn't took much for me to fell in love with her.
