I opened my eyes feeling my feet ice cold under the sheets, I was definitely not in Wakanda anymore. I pulled up my duvet up to my chin, stretched my legs, and turned around to face the window noticing the pouring rain outside.
I loved the Winter and everything it came with it, the rain, the fog, feeling the cold air on my face and covering myself with layers of clothes, but somehow I was missing the hot sun on my face, or maybe I was missing what it represented.
"Shit" I gasp as I felt a weight jumping on me noticing it was Jack.
Jack was our family dog, a beagle we had found years ago sitting outside of a supermarket with the saddest eyes and decided to take home with us. Jack buried his face in my face and jumped up and down, licking my face as I tried to dodge him closing my eyes.
"Hiiii" I yelled laughing feeling his whole body twirling.
"Y/N?" the door slowly opened letting my dad enter with a confused look on his face.
"Hi dad" I smiled finally removing Jack from me and sitting down on my bed.
"I didn't know you were coming..." he said still with his eyebrows frowned.
"It's nice to see you too" I smirked at him "Come here"
My dad made his way to my bed sitting next to me before leaning him wrapping his arms around me hugging me as tight as possible as I placed my head on his shoulder.
"Why did you come back already?" he asked me as I leaned against my pillow again.
I shrugged my shoulders looking back to Jack who had now his little face laid on my lap.
"Let's go have some breakfast and maybe I can get you to talk to me " He chuckled getting up and pulling me by my arms dragging me off the bed.
"So... that's it..." I sighed taking a sip of my coffee as I felt my dad's eyes staring into mine.
"And are you sure leaving was the best decision?" he raised an eyebrow at me.
"Dad...she was always doing shit like that.." I said making him smile "Are you defending her?"
"NO!" he opened his eyes shaking his head "I just... It was your research Y/N... and for months you talked about how cool it would be to get into that program, and now...you left honey" he said placing his hand on mine.
"I know...but it was too much.." I pressed my lips together... "I really liked her dad" I mumbled looking down at the floor.
"Well..." she sighed sitting up straight in his chair "I'm really glad you're back home anyway"
"And I'm really happy to be back" I smiled tilting my head "So...what have you been up to?"
After a long walk after lunch, we got home since my dad needed to take a shower and was feeling a little tired, ever since my mom had left, he started to shut down a little before the sun set, he said the lack of sun made him feel a sleepy and even tho he tried his best to cover up his emotions to me, I knew him, and it broke my heart looking at his little face filled with sorrow.
I got up to my room sitting on my bed letting Jack lay next to me when my phone started vibrating.
"Hey hey" I answered with a smile on my lips.
"Hi girl" Riri's voice was smooth and I could hear people in the back "How are you?"
"I'm good and you?"
"Awesome..." she said "so.... why aren't you in Wakanda anymore?" she said and I knew she had a smirk on her lips.
"Shit... How do you know already"? I chuckled shaking my head.
"Aneka called me" she mumbled.
"So you know the whole thing?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Kinda... But I just wanted to know how you are" she let a sigh come out of her mouth.
"I'm...mad... really mad" I laughed "But, I'm going to be fine...I just needed to step away you know...she was starting to hurt me more than making me feel nice" I felt a lump in my throat building up.
"I know... And I hate to tell you but..." She chuckled carefully...
"Shut the fuck up" I smirked against my phone.
"I TOLD YOU SO" she screamed against the phone making me laugh.
"You're an idiot Riri Williams" I sighed still with a smile on my lips.
"Since you're back home, let's go get dinner sometime...please" she asked me.
Suddenly I heard a knock at the door startling me a little noticing Jack's head turning to the sound.
"Ri I have to go, my dad's here" I said.
"Sure girl...We'll talk later" she chuckled before hanging up the phone.
"Yeah dad" I said putting down the phone and leaning against my pillow as I saw the door slowly opening and my heart fell down to my stomach as I saw Shuri carefully walking inside the room closing the door behind her and standing in front of my bed looking at me biting her lower lip. "What are you doing here?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"I needed to talk to you" she tilted her head back as her eyes scanned me carefully.
"Did my dad let you in?" I asked as rage started to fill up my body.
"No." she shook her head.
"So you decided to trespass.." I shrugged my shoulder as she rolled up her eyes.
"I needed to talk to you Y/N" she repeated herself with a steady voice making me feel smaller again, as my eyes focused on hers and my arms wrapped a pillow on my lap.
Here we go.
