I stood still, my hands still resting on her legs, her eyes were searching for something in mine, I just didn't know what. My lips didn't move, not a word came out of them like I was frozen. She looked away, squeezing her eyebrows before a smile formed on her lips, allowing me finally to breathe.
"So... that was good" she whispered looking back at me.
"Yeah..." I muttered focusing on her "I mean... I wasn't expecting it"
"Weren't you?" she raised an eyebrow tilting her head back.
"No!" I shook my head.
"We should do this more often" she smirked before getting up and making my hands go back to my lap.
"You're leaving?" my voice came a bit raspy surprised by her decision.
"It's late. I need to sleep.. and so should you" she said running her hand through her hair before taking a step back to me "Or did I take your sleep away?" I could hear the tease in her voice, but I sure didn't want to look pathetic.
"No... I mean..." I swallowed deeply looking at her "Why don't you stay..here".
Her eyes looked around the round before landing back on me "Do you want me to stay?" she smirked again. I could see she was enjoying this.
"If you want to" I shrugged my shoulders.
She pressed her lips still debating on the invitation "I should go. Don't want to wake you in the morning... you know I'm an early bird" she winked. I felt the urge to tell her that I didn't mind, that I would rather for her to stay, and wake up at the same time as her, but something went off in my head. Shuri had just kissed me, after weeks of me crushing on her, and just being friends, she kissed me. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep much, as my head would sink into an overthinking transe.
"Yeah, you're right" I smiled crawling back into my spot on the bed and adjusting my pillow.
"As usual" her lips curved a bit, before she slowly paced towards me, bending over the bed, her arms supporting her body weight before her lips touched mine one last time. God... How I wanted to pull her into me, feel her whole body against mine. Her lips brushed against mine for a few seconds before she removed them getting completely up and making her way to the door "We should definitely do this more often" She smirked before closing the door behind her.
It was no surprise the 2 hours of sleep I got that night. The memories of her touching me, her scent, her lips flooded my mind, as my skin still burned at the thought of her.
As my body felt the sunlight hitting the windows, I got up deciding to advance on my research in an attempt to focus on something else. I put on some wide jeans, and a t-shirt, putting my hair up, I grabbed my notebooks, and glasses and head out making my way to the backyard where my plantations were. I got on my knees, using my fingers to touch the soil assessing its humidity.
"Good morning Y/N" a deep voice startled me making me turn around.
"Riri hey!" I smiled getting up "sorry I'm all dirty and shit" I laughed a bit embarrassed.
"it's okay. I was just gonna ask you if you want a coffee. I'm grabbing one for me so..." she said trying not to look at my plants.
"You can look Riri.. they won't die" I chuckled "And a coffee would be great, I'll join you" I shook my hands trying to get rid of the dirt on them following her. "how was last night?" I said not wanting to sound suspicious.
"it was fun!" she chuckled "Have you ever seen drunk Shuri?" hell yeah and I loved it.
"I don't think so" I shook my head
"She turns into the most carefree person on earth...You should try to get her drunk one of these days " her shoulders shrugged.
We got our coffee and got back to my little garden. Riri sat down next to me making questions about my research and seeming genuinely interested in my answers. We stay for a bit, just enough time for me to take my daily notes, and I was enjoying her. She was easy to get along with.
"So, you want to work with dirt for the rest of your life?" she raised an eyebrow.
"No!" I laughed shaking my head "The main goal is to have my own research lab. Getting into the medical field. You know plants have healing properties that can help in developing treatments for a loooot of shit out there?!"
"I had no idea..." she nodded closing her eyes.
"Good morning you two" Shuri's raspy voice interrupted us with surprise making me turn my head around to face her. She was standing with some sunglasses on, some sports shorts, and an oversized t-shirt. Looking good.
"Woha" Ririr laughed looking at her "I can't believe you were the last to wake up"
"I wasn't. I just stayed in bed a bit longer today. Last night was..." she paused for a second before running her fingers through my hair causing my spine to shiver "intense".
"oh okay" Riri almost yelled as her eyes followed Shuri's hands "shit!" she laughed "So you DID saw her drunk already!" she looked back at me.
I nervously smiled not being able to think of an answer. What was she doing?? I moved away from her hand looking up at her trying to read her eyes.
"Hi" she smiled at me kneeling next to me and kissing my cheek.
"hi.." a whispered trying to hold a smile and failing completely.
I felt my eyes stuck on her while she talked with Riri, tracing every move she made, every laugh she had. But as much as I wanted to be excited, something wasn't right about this. Why now. out of the blue... Maybe I was just overthinking as usual, but the only thing I was sure of was that I could feel my heart bursting through my chest. Just wasn't sure if it was in a good or bad way.
