Kiara"Why does it feel like I am more excited about this date than you are?"
"Because you are Niomi, you haven't shut up about it yet. Someone on the outside listening in would think we're shopping for a double date."
"I'm just happy you're finally putting yourself out there Ashley, Brad seems like a great guy. Plus he is American like you maybe that's what you need."
"What happens to opposites attract?" I asked but regretted it instantly when Dario came to mind. That saying is clearly nothing but the cause of trouble.
"You're about to prove that wrong, I'm certain." She laughed.
Within the next half an hour we left the mall and headed back to my apartment. We chilled for a while just watching tv until Loralie showed up unexpectedly.
"I swear it's like she doesn't know that I was here first."
"What are you talking about Ni, you literally opened the door for her." I pointed out with a laugh.
"No I meant in your life not your home Ashley. It's like ever since you guys met she has been trying to get so close to you while failing at pushing me aside." She whispered.
"Oh wow." I laughed out loud but she shut me up quick not wanting Loralie to look at us suspiciously from the kitchen.
"I am serious Ashley, something is off with this chick.I don't trust her, are you sure she isn't lesbian?"
"Lesbian? You think she's into me? Niomi, Loralie has been begging me to go on this date with Brad almost as much as you have."
"Maybe it's a front." She shrugged.
"Maybe you've lost it a little." I joked. She waved me off just as Loralie joined us with popcorn to watch the movie. After that I took a shower, Niomi did my makeup and I got dressed and ready for my dinner date. Loralie left about 10 minutes prior and by the time Brad came knocking on the door, I was actually nervous."Flowers? Wow, that's so sweet, they're beautiful. Thank you Brad, let me just put them in water." Maybe this date will turn out good after all.
As it turns out, for my first date in forever it was great. Brad is an amazing guy. He is super intelligent, a gentleman and has a cunning personality. The food was to die for and he didn't go all out trying to impress me with an expensive restaurant which I actually appreciated. I've missed the simple things. Extravagance has been apart of my life for years to the point where it was sometimes way too much.
