"Lorenzo-
"Kiara, I believe Don made it clear that you are not to leave the house at any given time." He did but I need some fresh air. It's been two weeks since the enemy made their first move and it's been quiet since or at least I have been deliberately kept out of the loop. Dario has been out of country since yesterday on business. He will be gone for three days so my best chance to get out is now.
"Yes but I need to get a few things."
"What are they? I will retrieve it for you."
"Women toiletries and I need something from the office as well. It will be quick I promise."
"Let me call Don."
"You're going to call Dario while he is on a business trip to inform him that you're taking his wife to buy sanitary napkins?" His face scrunched up instantly. It was amusing but I held back on my laughter. A grown mafia man getting uncomfortable by the mention of women pads, imagine that.
"Let us leave then."
I had to bring Matteo along because his grandmother wasn't around to watch him. It did not bother me though. A little time out of the Romano maze of a house would be good for him as well. Fresh air can never be a bad thing.
"How are things between you and Kiana?"
"You live with her Lorenzo I'n pretty sure you know the answer to that. Everytime we speak it's an argument instead of a decent conversation. It's like she finds every reason to stay pissed at me."
"Other than leaving her behind what other reason does she have?" He questioned.
"Me working at the club again basically put her out of a job, then the whole situation with Valentina.." I stopped myself realizing I don't truly know the nature of their relationship. What if Lorenzo is unaware of her relationship with the enemy.
"Hmm I see."
"What do you know about Valentina Morretti?" I found myself asking.
"Exactly what Don told us, that she is the wife of Mario and possibly the last surviving Morretti. Also that she infiltrated the club once and she maybe a little unhinged."
"A little? She tried to kill me once you know."
"I wasn't informed of that."
"Mario casually admitted that to me himself."
"It seems they have been plotting in the shadows for years. They even had Sergio in on it this entire time. How did you feel when you learnt the truth?" Funny how Dario wasn't interested in my feelings when Sergio was brought up but Lorenzo is.
"Brought back memories truthfully, the good and the bad. I foolishly trusted Sergio and he was playing me the entire time, even worse than I imagined."
"Understood but he is long gone and you are here now. Leave him in the past and let me keep you safe, that is my job. I promise you this time no one will get to you."
