Kiara POV
"Why do you look so nervous Venice?"
"Well the last time I was here things didn't exactly turn out..good. I haven't seen my sister in years let's not forget that part."
"Oh come here, I've missed you too." I said pulling her in for a hug. Wow she smelled real good.
"You know for someone with five kids, you'd think by now you'd be round like a pumpkin. I mean clearly our genes are thriving when it comes to aging but not even motherhood affects you?"
"Well I'll take the compliment obviously. It's crazy though I swell up like a blow fish when I'm pregnant then I'd probably remain big for a few weeks before returning to my regular size. The only exception was when I carried Enzo and Santino."
"You mean when you carried twins, gee Kiara I wonder why that pregnancy was different?" Her sarcasm was noted. I rolled my eyes in response.
Supper will be prepared soon so it will be nice to have her over for dinner. I doubt the boys are remotely excited about seeing her though if I'm being honest. I discovered Venice less than a decade ago. During that time six of those years, I raised my youngest boys and she was nowhere around. No fault of hers of course but the point is my children barely know her. They know of her and have seen and spoken to her but that Aunty-nephew relationship isn't really there. Venice is a hardball but she loves children. I learnt that simply from observation during my time in Mexico. She has a soft spot for our young cousins and she was really looking forward to visiting my children. I hope they're nice to her. God knows they can be a little malicious sometimes.
"What about the husband?" She questioned while gazing around.
"He is getting ready for an event which he will be attending with his brother."
"And you're home with the kids on mommy duties?" She raised a brow.
"By choice. I don't feel to be around people tonight especially since my sister is in town." I smiled.
It's been a few months since Dario escaped prison. To say that it was one of the biggest news reports of last year would be an understatement. It held the headlines for days. Weeks later it was still the talk of the country and it made international news even.
To the public, the Romano family was simply untouchable. After 'negotiating' with the president, Dario returned home. The boys were beyond happy although Matteo seemed too proud to show it. Dario spent every single day of the following week home with us while the tv channels, radio stations, blogs and other reporters continuously spoke on his escape and the aftermath which followed. The casualties were something to talk about for sure. The grieving families caused an uproar online and in the streets. They protested for justice for their lost ones. Some wanted Dario right back behind bars and others wanted his head on a spike. Many lost their lives in the prison from the gun war, some on the road through drive-by and accidents from reckless driving..expected considering they were trying to escape he authorities. It was a lot and I felt overwhelmed. With Dario back home in charge of the household once again, he forbid me from looking at the news. He said it wasn't good for the baby. I couldn't imagine Dario having a daughter before but after the chaos that had recently occurred it was downright impossible to imagine by then and little Davina was already growing in my stomach.
Now she's three months old and might I add extremely spoilt. Her brothers are always hovering over her when they have free time. I don't even have to beg them to assist me with her when I want a break. I'm going to enjoy this behavior while it lasts because lord knows it won't last forever.
