Kiara

"Matteo I can feel you mean mugging me from across the room. If you have a problem son, let me hear it."

"You want us to start going to school. We haven't stepped foot in a school a day in our life but now, after everything that's happened you suddenly think it would be best for us to register as students at a private school."

"There is nothing wrong with getting a proper education and mingling with other people your age Matteo. In fact it would be good for all of you."

"According to who?"

"Matteo, respect your mother." Marcellous scolded him.

"This is actually your father's decision Matteo. Since we're back in Milan, he thinks it's best that we act normal and not attract additional attention to us."

"So he wants us to pretend like everything is alright, like our family wasn't publicly shamed, we weren't forced into hiding and he isn't doing 15years jail time for-

"Matteo that's enough!" I warned him. I knew it wasn't a good idea to expose him to all of this but apparently the decision wasn't mine. Dario made this choice and now he is as vocal as ever on the matter. This isn't for him to question, he just needs to do as he is told. That is a child's place.

"You begin school on Monday. Luca can take you and your brothers shopping during the course of the day to prepare yourselves and buy anything y'all may need. It won't be easy but it will be a good thing Matteo, it beats staying in the house and homeschooling yourself."

"Yeah okay, can I go now?" I sighed not liking his attitude. I dismissed him not having the energy to argue with my fourteen year old. Being the mother of a teenage boy is no simple task.

At fourteen, despite being homeschooled Matteo is very intelligent plus street smart. Last year Leonardo taught him how to drive. It's something his dad should teach him at sixteen as far as I'm concerned but for whatever reason Matteo was eager to learn early. Plus I couldn't really say when his father would be released if ever so he has an advantage to those in his age group. I only hope his brothers don't react so negatively towards the news. Dario should have really told them all of this yesterday when we visited him rather than leaving it for me to do.

"He surely has developed an attitude Kiara." Camilla spoke up.

"He doesn't show it most times. Matteo has been a huge help to the family and I know it hasn't been easy on him so I try to excuse his outbursts sometimes. I can only imagine how angry he is." I explained not that I owed anyone that.

"It's fine, let them settle in and enjoy this weekend. Honestly you could've given them another week if you asked me. They haven't been back in Milan for 24hours yet and they already have to start attending school bright and early Monday morning." Kairah said excusing Matteo. She had a point though. Maybe we should allow them to get re-accustomed to Milan before introducing them to school.

"So what happens now Marcel?"

"Dario has a plan. We have to trust in him. For now we focus on the legitimate businesses that are still standing. Kiara's hotel has been doing well, Camilla had the bars reopened six months ago-

"Really? I was unaware."

"Yes we're getting back on our feet slowly but surely. Dario doesn't want you involved for now. He wants you to focus on the children." Marcellous told me which was embarrassing. It felt like I was being shunned in-front of the family. Worse yet, in front of their Uncle Xavier. I still can't stand the bastard.

"Excuse me?"

"It's only temporary Kiara, don't worry." He tried assuring me. Clearly Marcel knew a lot more about our next moves than I did but I sat back and listened to their plan or at least the parts of it they chose to disclose.
