Kiara POV
"You look terrible by the way."
"And you look fat."
"Venice I'm pregnant."
"Trust me I don't think anyone would question that. Aren't we too old to be popping babies? Tell that man get off you next time, damn."
"This conversation feels like dèjá vu I swear. I have to make all the babies that you're not making for Teresa."
"Teresa has more than enough children around her. She doesn't need any grandchildren from me."
"Of course you would say that,"
"Did you detect a lie though?"
"Anyway, what brings you here anyway Venice, uninvited as usual. This is actually terrible timing."
"Uninvited but never unwanted or you wouldn't have opened the door for me remember that and don't worry I'm not sticking around. I see your husband found a way to make headlines with a prison break. We surely do have exciting lives huh."
"That's an understatement, so what's going on? Something happened?"
"I'll cut to the chase then. Teresa was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer."
"I beg your pardon?"
"Our mother is dying Kiara." There's just no way. I can't catch a break. I still feel like I just met her sometimes. I've gone my entire life without my birth mother and just when we've developed a relationship, she decides to start deteriorating. "That's..wow. That's just insane." I had enough on my plate right now I don't need this.
"Right, to think that the woman went her entire life dodging bullets only to let cancer take her out". Damn, she is harsh with it and kinda talking like Teresa is already gone. I pity Venice. They never had the best relationship but its the woman who gave birth to her and raised her. I can't imagine how she's feeling right now.
"It's a lot to ask at a time like this but if you can, she'd love to spend some time with you before..well you know." I guess they have no hope left after all. Teresa Mendoza is really dying. That leaves Venice to take over the cartel once that happens.
"I would love to see her and I'll even try to bring the boys with me. I'll let you know when though because this week is definitely too hectic. We have a lot going on at home."
"No problem it's appreciated."
"How long are you staying in Italy?"
"I'm leaving tonight actually but I could stick around to see the boys before I head back to the hotel."
