Kiara
After eating some of the food Mario offered me, he stuck to his word and announced that he would bring me to Kiana. However, I had a request of my own first. I was in urgent need of a shower. He escorted me to the bathroom which was quite literally two doors down the same hall. Any idea I had of running around this place in a towel like a chicken without a head flew right out the window when I swung open the door to see him waiting on me.
"For a busy man you clearly have a lot of time on your hands. Waiting on me to finish my shower. Tell me do you do this for everyone here?"
He remained silent.
"Okay so just me and Kiana then?"
"Just you, Kiana hasn't struck me as the foolish type. You would have tried something ridiculous no doubt and made a mockery of yourself."
"It's almost funny how criminals in prison have more freedom than I do here. At least they have access to a bathroom. I can't believe I had to ask to bathe." I retorted as I side stepped him to stand in the middle of the hall. At least I remember my way back to the room. Leaving Mario behind, I walked over to it.
"My apologies, but your presence was simply forgotten. I hadn't recall that I had a disgruntled guest upstairs while I handled business all day." I guess he decided to follow after all and Is he being funny or is that his actual excuse?
"Yet your maid did not forget to bring me meals?"
"Directives given to her from yesterday. The only time I was reminded of your presence was when she came to inform me that you hadn't touched any of your food."
"So basically she's a snitch?" I rose a brow at him. "Doesn't exactly sound good for business." I added being very realistic. How dumb is he. All Dario's workers are scared shitless of him. They wouldn't dare speak against him for sure but if that little old lady sang like a cannery without so much as a gun to her head well damn. What if someone holds her hostage for information on him, does he not see how that will be a problem.
"I have earned all my workers respect and loyalty, that is all. She is suppose to report to me Kiara. It is her job, do not be mistaken."
"Earned?"
"Yes Kiara, respect is earned not bought or forced. Now get dressed, Valentina will be here shortly and show you to your friend's room." He's leaving me in the hands of his psychotic wife."Surely I can find Kiana on my own. This is no castle you know. You act as though, it's a maze that I will get lost in."
"You have the wrong idea. I am not concerned about you losing your way within these walls, I simply do not trust you not to try anything stupid."
"You insult my intelligence and you have misjudged me. I'm almost wounded by your lack of trust." I spoke sarcastically.
"Just like respect, trust is earned. That you should already know." I noticed him starring at something only to realize that it was my scar. The towel I grabbed wasn't a large one so part of the mark showed underneath it. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. I never wear anything too revealing for people to see it but in this moment when I am quite literally naked other than the towel covering my body—God it's low key embarrassing. I can almost hear his judgmental thoughts.
Clearing my throat I spoke up. "I think it's time I got dressed Morretti." For a few seconds he was still looking at the mark on my leg until he walked out without another word. At least he closed the door behind him.
