Josh- Dawn of the Unicorn

Josh has been acting weird lately. Well, weirder than usual. He's a hacker so I get he's on his phone a lot doing who knows what, but at least when he's with me he talks.

Lately, not so much. I'm beginning to think somethings up. Is he cheating on me? Hacking into a space station? Fuck knows.

"Hey, do you wanna grab a hotdog?" I ask Josh, wheeling over to him in my chair as I poke his shoulder.

No response, he's stuck staring at his phone. I look around the empty hackerspace as if somethings gonna magically help me.

I sigh and grab my coat, standing up I bite my lip and walk away.

"What did you say?" Josh mumbles over his shoulder at me. I cross my arms and stomp my foot like a child.

"I said you can fuck off!" I snap and watch as his eyes widen. He slips the phone into his pocket and stands up, quickly walking over to me. Josh leans down and places a hand on my arm.

I shrug him off and blink away tears as I mumble "Are you cheating on me?"

Josh makes a sound like a dying animal, a mix between a groan, a cough and the word "What?"

I look up at him with sad eyes. "You're always on your phone, what's so special about it?"

He sighs and slowly reaches into his pocket, and grabs the device, and hands it to me...

"The password is Teddy, it was my family's dog name." He tells me, lifting his chin.

I stare at the phone, unsure what to do, until eventually my curiosity gets the better of me. I type in the password and it immediately unlocks, showing me a photo of a bright pink castle and a pale unicorn.

I look up to see Josh blushing furiously, his eyes look to the floor as he clears his throat. "It's, uh, it's a game called Dawn of the Unicorn, you've gotta help Princess Penelope reach her kingdom before the next day."

I bite back a smile, "This is what you've been obsessed with?" I ask as he nods, finally meeting my eyes.

My shoulders slump with relief as I pass him back the phone, he grabs it and holds it to his chest like a child. "I'm sorry I doubted you, you were just acting so weird."

Josh nods, "It's okay, I just didn't want you to judge me for playing the game." I shake my head and smile.

"Never, I'm so downloading it on my phone!" I excitedly say, grabbing my phone as Josh begins explaining everything about the game.

We spend hours curled on on the couch, snugged as we game together.
