Wrench- Guitar

I sit on the sofa in Wrench's garage, watching one of my favourite movies on my laptop, Fight Club.

Wrench has been tinkering with a Ha robot behind me, but every so often he peeks over my shoulder to watch or he'll give some sort of commentary.

The film finishes and as the buildings blow up and 'Where Is My Mind' plays by the Pixies, I hum along to the song.

"You like this song?" Wrench asks.

"Fuck yeah, it's my favourite song ever! The guitar bit is my favourite, I even tried to teach myself it on every musical instrument I've ever owned, but I could never manage it" I sigh.

"Hmm" Wrench makes a sound before going back to tinkering with his robot.

"Thanks for letting me chill here, movie night again on Wednesday?" I ask him.

"Yeah obviously, but I'm picking" He says, standing up and wiping his hands on his jeans.

"Alright, see you then" I smile, walking out of the door.

--A few days later, on Wednesday--

I walk into his garage as I usually do, but its dark other than small pink LED  arrows pointing me to a corner, I decide to follow them, thinking Wrench is playing a joke, but then a voice says:
"You met me at a very strange time in my life"

I gasp and geek out a little, excited that Wrench is quoting my favourite movie.
All of a sudden the beginning notes of 'Where Is My Mind' play on a guitar and I immediately grin like an idiot, a light comes on and there's Wrench, sitting on a stool playing the song.

I stand there all dorky eyed and terribly sing along to the song, swaying and smiling so hard.

The song comes to an end and Wrench puts the black guitar down and I say "I didn't even know you could play".

Wrench shrugs and does a 'lips are sealed' motion, before once again indirectly quoting Fight Club "The first rule about knowing how to play the guitar is to never tell anyone I know how to play the guitar".

I laugh and tears coat my eyes, "Thank you" I whisper and Wrench comes over to me and puts his arm around my shoulders, leading me to the sofa.

"Stop getting all teary eyed or I might start getting emotional" He jokes, I sniffle and wipe my eyes.

"It's the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me" I say to him earnestly, "Well you need better BFF's, luckily I'm your man" He laughs.

"Yeah, you are" I smile at him whilst he puts on the movie Aliens for the 10th time.
