(Marco's POV)
At first, being the new guy in this friend group, I thought it would be hard to fit in. But it was the polar opposite these people were really inviting, and it was thanks to one person.
Of course, it had to be none other than Charlie.
However, after recent events, it looked to be that Charlie was the one who needed to be helped, because every time I looked at him, he always looked down his vibe was off.
Let's be real here as muted as Josh didn't want to admit it, but Charlie was obviously the leader of this friend group so it was weird to see this phase of our friend group happening.
I just felt like I had to do something, it was the least I could do, after everything he had done for me. I knew exactly what I would do, I would make this vacation the best vacation he ever had.
We were all currently at the airport and surprisingly enough I saw something I wasn't quite expecting.
"Why are the two princesses of Spain here?" I asked Josh who was inspecting his suitcase, as he looked up to see what I was talking about.
"Oh, can't you see?" He asked me with a slight grin on his. "They're obviously here for me." Josh pointed at himself, to which in response he got a light kick from Calvin on the shin
"Hey, man! What was that for." Josh whined.
"Lorenzo don't listen to that guy over here. . . If you want the real answer I think it's pretty obvious." Calvin smiled at me, as I looked over to see the two princesses surrounding Charlie as one of them began non-stopping chirping in the ear, while the one with green hair looked like she was trying to lock his suitcase.
Josh groaned at the sight of this.
"Is everything alright Josh?" I asked him.
Josh gestured his hands out.
"Look at him. How does he do it!? His face looks like he just returned from a war, looking dead as ever but two pretty girls are on him as always." Josh said.
"Hey Josh see it as this," Calvin wrapped his arm around his shoulder giving him a better picture. "Less competition am I right?"
"Yeah. . . Yeah! You're right!"
Josh hyped himself up.
Now the two girls were loud enough that we could all hear what they were saying.
"I better not see you on any articles doing dumb things," Mei said in a firm tone, as she continuously poked Charlie's chest.
Normally if you knew Charlie, he would come up with some witty remark, he always had one for situations like these, but not in this case.
"Yeah, whatever." He coldly said.
It was enough for Mei to feel bad, as she wrapped her arms around him.
"You know I'll be here for you. . . have a safe trip loser." She said, breaking the hug.
Now it was time for the second sister. She didn't have to say any words, just actions. She did the same as Mei but with a twist.
"A kiss on the cheek! Come on! He's playing life on easy move." Josh continued whining, but it didn't seem to affect Charlie as he did not react to his face.
Once that was all over, just as we were about to go, it seemed that Mei wanted something from me.
"You're Marco right?"
"Yeah, that would be me," I said.
"Good. I just wanted you to make sure that you do everything in your ability to make Charlie feel good about himself. . . don't tell that loser I said this." She pleaded with you.
"Sure. . . but what kind of relationship do you have with him, you guys seem pretty close," I said, this comment of mine immediately made her lighten up.
"R-Relationship nothing it's nothing. He's just a fr-
"A crush," Josh said, Mei's hair started flying up. "You heard what I said this girl over here is heads over he-"
"Ow! What the hell is that for!" Josh repeatedly gets slapped up by Mei.
"You think you can tell people who I like!?" She slapped Josh on the shoulder.
"See you're not denying it." Josh chuckled, and Mei stopped slapping him.
"Shut up." Mei turned back at me with a smirk on her face. "Here's a fun fact about this boy Josh here, did you know he asked me out 10 times and guess what I've rejected him 10 times." She raised all of her fingers, as Josh immediately shut his mouth.
"That's enough from you, we're going Marco," Josh said, dragging me away.
"Remember what I said, Marco." Those were the last words that Mei said to me, as we headed to our flight.
(TIMESKIP)
As I stepped off the plane, I was immediately hit by the flash of cameras and the shouting of reporters. It was my first time travelling with the national team, and I was overwhelmed by the attention.
I tried to push my way through the crowd, trying to keep my head down and avoid the paparazzi's lenses. But no matter where I went, they seemed to be one step ahead, always ready to snap a picture or ask a question.
I was starting to feel panicked and claustrophobic when a strong hand grabbed my arm and pulled me through the throng. I looked up to see Josh, a veteran of these kinds of situations, smiling down at me.
"Come on, let's get out of here," he said, steering me towards the waiting car.
I gratefully climbed into the back seat, relieved to finally be away from the chaos. As we drove through the crowded streets, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and accomplishment. I was a professional footballer, and this was my life now.
But as I gazed out at the flashing cameras and the eager faces of the fans, I knew that I had a lot to learn. Being a footballer was more than just scoring goals and winning games - it was about handling the pressure and the attention and being a role model for others.
I vowed to myself that I would work hard and make the most of this incredible opportunity, no matter what challenges lay ahead. And as the car pulled up to the hotel, I knew that I was ready to face whatever came my way.
I looked over to see Charlie who had exited the car straight away walking to the hotel.
All I knew was that he was not excited about this trip which was disappointing of course.
Still Japan here we come!
It was time for the squads. . .
Return.
