POEM #64: TO HAVE A WORTH

"To Have A Worth"

We were born in this world with no fear or pressure

Back in the time when we have nothing to endure

No responsibilities, no expectations, and nothing to worry about

More time for ourselves, no wondering what's the right route.

But as we grew older and time passes by

Worries and problems increase along with the urge to die

We expect ourselves to grow fast because life is a harsh race

What we have and how far we've come is where our worth is based.

In life, to have worth you must be great

Shine in at least one field and maybe you'll have a high rate

Maybe people will treat you better and be kind

This is the world we're living in, a genuine person is hard to find.

You must have a pretty face or a good body

Be talented or have a lot of money

Have a good sense of humor or a fun personality

You must have high intelligence or be lonely.

Girls must look pretty so they'll find a mate

They must be a lady or they'll bloom late

Boys can't show their feelings for they are a man

Powerful enough to lead but emotions are banned.

We tried so hard to please others

We replace our natural self with all the plastic covers

We believe that their judgment will cause us happiness

But we know inside that insecurity only brings sadness.

The pressure of being not good enough is a stake in our hearts

We are a target board while our flaws are the darts

Darts that stab our confidence and bring doubt

It reminds us of the things we can't be, things we didn't have.

Even if I try to walk out of my box, the pressure pushes me back in

I don't know if being simple and not perfect is a sin

Why do I have to fight this hard to have a purpose in life?

When is it going to stop, the stress, the pressure, and the strife?

The saddest thing of it all is that experiencing pressure won't guarantee success

Working hard, and being diligent won't make you the best

This pressure is only weighing me down the rack

Instead of pushing me forward, the only thing it did was hold me back.
