"Do's and Don'ts"
THE DO'S
1. Give me a bit of space.
It's not easy to stay friends with you while I still have these feelings inside of me
Do not expect me to smile and be happy after what happened
There will be times that I will fail to pretend.
2. Stay the same.
I want you to stay as you are before
The "You" that I decided to love
I want you to never change
Be the wonderful person that you are
You don't have to change because of me
Give me time to bleed it all out
I promise we'll be friends like we were before I fell.
3. Chase after her.
I already broke my heart because you love her and not me
So you might as well chase after your dream
Make her yours and make sure your love will succeed
I didn't write a whole book just to be wasted in another shattered dream.
4. Remember me.
Forget me not, that is my biggest wish
I wrote this book for you to remember me
As the girl who loved you
The girl who wrote a book about you
Remember me as a friend
A girl who liked you,
A girl who hated you,
A girl you rejected,
A girl you tore apart,
A girl you didn't choose,
It doesn’t matter as long as you remember me
The last thing I want and the thing I feared the most is to be
forgotten
Are seventy poems enough to reserve a place in your memory?
5. Love.
Just love.
I despise love for hurting me
But I don't regret loving you
So I want you to love someone
This will also be my revenge
As it is bound for a person to feel pain after love
Pain is always equal to love
The amount of love will determine the amount of pain
So I hope you love with every inch of your heart
I hope you love with every part of your soul.
THE DON'TS:
1. Don't smile at me.
It makes my heart skip a beat
That smile does some things to my heart
I can't even explain the feeling
I hate when both of your lips and eyes smile
It's a magnificent sight but is forbidden to touch
That smile also leaves a crack in my heart
Sign of the smile that doesn't belong to me
So don't smile
Keep that beautiful sight away from my eyes.
2. Don't look at me.
I mean, you never really looked at me
Because if you did, I probably wouldn't have to write this poem
But don't look at me!
Keep your beautiful eyes away from me
I might assume you are looking at me with love
Don't look at me with pity, I don't need it
Don't stare at me when I'm sad
Even if you are the reason for it, you don't need to feel guilty.
3. Do not be too kind to me.
I might mistake it again for interest
Treat me like how you treat everyone
I don't need special treatment if I am not special
Don’t touch my head
Don't make my heart flutter
Don’t be early for me
Don’t lift my burden
I don't need your help
If I didn't ask for it, don’t do anything
Because my heart is a fool for you
I might interpret it the wrong way.
4. Don't knock!
I said don't you dare knock on my heart again
I might cross the line and open the door for you.
5. Don't compliment me too much.
Don't act like you're the king of sweet words
And you have plenty in your storage
So you just gave it to me
I don't need it, not from you, not anymore
Don't say anything about me being beautiful
Because I might believe it as I did before
Don't make me expect something more than what we have
Do not fill my ears with words you don't mean
Be careful with your words because my heart is a landmine
While my mind is a ticking bomb.
6. All in all, do not make me fall.
You are a tall building, a majestic tower
Falling for you would kill me instantly
I managed to survive the first fall
Although I suffered from a broken heart and shattered soul
The next time I fall, I might not be lucky anymore
I might die this time so don't let me fall.
Don’t do anything that will make me admire you more than I
already did
Stop making me love you more
I am only asking you to avoid these things because I don't trust
myself
I am afraid that even if I already knew the truth, I would still fall for you again
I am afraid that I won't forget you
I am afraid that even after so many years it is still you
I am afraid of getting used to loving you
So don't.
Help me get over this feeling
If this is just a phase, turn over the page for me
Help my stupid heart finally understand
That your heart that I love will never feel the same.
