We sat in silence for what I imagine was 30 minutes before the cops arrived on the scene. I was too paralyzed to look at my phone.

police, open up!

They came in on their own accord, making Nicole perk up from the ball she was rolled up in. She unlocked the bedroom door and ran out.

"I'm so scared" she rambled to one of the cops. I followed her steps, exiting the bedroom.

"It's okay miss, we're gonna take you down to the station and figure out what's going on, is that alright?"

She nodded in agreement almost happily but I couldn't help but feel choked up. It was a wave of relief, stress, anxiety and fear. I was so overwhelmed.

"Ma'am? Can you come down to the station as well?"

I snapped out of my thoughts- slowly nodding.

I got in the backseat of the cop car with Nikki who laid her head on my lap. I massaged her head gently, hoping to relax her.

Diya: babe somebody broke in

I clicked off my phone. His phone probably died in his sleep.... I can just explain everything tomorrow morning.

"Mrs. Almazar? Did anyone know you two were home alone tonight?" I took a sip of the cold water that the officer provided in a shitty paper cup. We had been here for a couple hours and were getting asked the same questions over and over. Nicole fell asleep on my lap after her third round of questions and thankfully, they left it at that.

"Like I told the other officer. lots of people knew.We had guests over yesterday, a few of my friends and my boyfriend's employees knew."

"Who were these guests?"

"Literal 9 year olds. They didn't do this."

"Don't be a smart ass Almazar. Those 9 year olds have parents."

I scoffed. These officers weren't listening to shit I said.

"Look, I'm not the bad guy. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this. It was most likely just a random robbery" the stupid ass cop shrugged.

"On a night that my boyfriend was conveniently out on a trip? In a isolated address? While I conveniently had an injured foot? They weren't running- they were slowly creeping around. They didn't grab valuables and run. That was NOT a goddamn robbery!" I argued in frustration. I rubbed my temples aggravated.

Luckily, the interrogation room door got a knock. Theo pushed open the door, surprising me.

Sir, you have to wait for the okay that you can go in there!

"My baby" he wrapped me in his arms. He ignored the cop telling him to leave and continued making me feel so safe. He swayed us while I cried against his skin.

Almost as if he knew exactly how frightened I was.

"You're safe now princess. I got you. I'm not going anywhere" he encouraged, rubbing my back. I began sobbing uncontrollably.

I'm so glad he knew that I needed him.
