Diya's pov
I took off my tennis visor and slumped down on my sofa. Today has just been exhausting but at least my evening tour was over. I took off my walkie talkie, powering it off for the day.
Honestly, I didn't want to face Elias tonight. I just wanted to be alone and cry about Mrs.Rekkel's words from today. She had no idea just how unlucky I was. Thank goodness Elias was still not home.
I unlocked my phone and googled "Athello Hendrix and Rebecca engagement". I've been dying to know more but also just dying. Literally everytime I saw an article about them, I felt like death. There's no better way to put it.
I scrolled and clicked on a blog.
The headline read:
"busy bee billionaire crosses paths with a kind and humble girl"
I scoffed at them calling Rebecca kind and humble. She was a backstabbing bitch. Quite literally the opposite of that.
I scrolled to read a bit of the article.
"Sorry ladies, This bachelor is taken! The usually private billionaire surprised the world when his team released a statement regarding his love life. They claim that he is engaged to a woman who, although, appeared random to every close viewer of the investing business- was very known in the Hendrix office(s). Some viewers argued that he was spotted with a different woman not too long ago and accuse him of dumping her overnight. Others speculate that this was the woman he has been hiding all along.
Either way, the playboy has yet to touch on this himself but is expected to very soon on his upcoming televised appearance. Which-"
"Diya? Babe?" I heard Elias call from the front door. I fumbled my phone from being caught off guard but swiftly waved him over.
"hi cutie. I'm right here" I replied.
"Good, I've been missing you all day"
I smiled at him, thankful that he called out instead of catching me reading that article.
"Are you hungry?" I questioned as he came to lay beside me on the couch.
His walkie beeped loudly.
"code Y. Please do not scare guests. Please allow security to do their job. I repeat, code Y"
Elias mumbled "shit"
"I didn't even know we had codes to be honest. What does that one mean? " I chuckled.
"Y is for youth. A kid is missing. We should go help out."
My eyes widened. "Oh god- of course"
We grabbed our walkies and phones to head outside and join the search.
