Diya's pov
We arrived to the park and to my dismay, there was not a small family picnic happening at all. Theo's family had a huge part of the park privately rented and placed a white tent that went on for miles. We could hear the guests chatting as soon as we stepped out of our car.

"er I thought this was suppose to be a picnic?"

"Hm"  was his thoughtless response.

Theo's hands were hidden in his pockets while he clenched his jaw, seemingly confident.

Truth be told, I could tell he was nervous. I hated to add to the stress on his plate but how was I going to bring Nikki into such a eccentric party while she was sick? After hearing the amount of guests there- it was clearly not just family. You could tell Theo's parents lived in la la land by them calling this soirée a "picnic".

"Baby I'm going to call Ken to pick Nik up- she can't go in there.." I gently whispered to him while Nicole sat on the curb by the Valet.

"Just tell him to be here quick or he's fired"
He spat coldly as if Ken was a nobody. I rolled my eyes at his sassiness. He wasn't being serious but it was better to not test him when he was in one of his moods.

"why don't you go inside and I'll find you after Nicole leaves?" I rubbed his back warmly.

He nodded in silence and headed inside with his damn pimp walking cane. He was fine other than the pain that flared up at times but it was still in his best interest to use a cane. His attitude on the other hand was seemingly lasting a lifetime. He didn't even say goodbye to Nicole. Father of the year award....

Fortunately, my foot was fully healed so only one of us was limping now.

I held a sleepy Nicole in my arms up until Ken pulled up to relieve me of my nursing duties. I kissed Nikki goodbye and headed to finally enter the white tent.

My stomach turned and I could feel myself getting nauseous...again. The same way I've been getting nauseous every now and then.

Security let me in and I scanned the gathering once I entered. It looked like a scene out of Bridgerton.

My heart sank as I saw Rebecca laughing it up with Theo's mom. You have got to be kidding me. And there his dumbass was, smirking at them as if it was okay that she was there.

My steps got more aggressive as I walked up to Theo to take my seat beside him.

"Is this my seat or was it being saved for Rebecca?"
I whispered in a petty tone as I put a napkin on my lap.

"it's yours and you know that. Don't get smart with me" he replied sternly.

"shit I don't feel so well" I cut off our petty conversation by holding my stomach in despair.

"god so now YOU and Nicole are magically sick huh? Or do you just want a way out of here?"

I ignored him and tried to do a few breathing exercises. I can not believe how bad my anxiety has gotten.

There was a DJ set up at the back who was playing classical music. He allowed family members to come up to a mic and speak every 25 minutes as if we bought tickets to a damn Ted talk. It definitely wasn't helping my nausea.

The room kept spinning as I felt myself prepare to yack.

Rebecca came beside us, placing a long kiss on Theo's cheek to greet him, followed by a bland kiss on my cheek. Theo's mother stood beside her quietly sipping wine. It was like his mother was trying to mock me.

"Hi!! How are you love?" Rebecca asked Theo while touching his muscles in an obviously flirtatious manner.

I stood up, completely fed up with this event. I might not feel well but that doesn't mean I'm gonna sit here while everyone pretends I don't exist. I headed straight for the exit so I could get a breathe of fresh air. Mostly everyone was leaving for the night so I didn't think it mattered either way.

It was dark out by now and I only realized how silent it was once I was by myself. I followed the curb to a quiet part of the sidewalk that was covered by trees. The leaves blocked the moonlight leaving a dark path. My phone beeped from a message making me stop in my tracks.

Such eye candy. You will be mine- unknown
