Theo's pov
We got off our 2 hour flight. Our private jet landed in the gorgeous tropical city that Janine found. Trust me when I say that I was more than eager to find the tropical women at the resort. I honestly needed to get away from Rebecca.
Janine insisted this is a romantic vacation so she would kill me if I was caught fucking anyone but to be fair, my daughter is here so how is this vacation romantic anyways? I guess we just had to look like a happy little family.
I noticed Nicole was acting strange the whole flight. She was almost completely silent the whole two hours. I knew we were going through a lot but she has absolutely no reason to ice me out right now. I just wish I knew why.
"Welcome!" Some greeters met us with flower necklaces and virgin piña coladas as we strolled out of the airport with our luggage. I stopped to take a drink. Our driver was standing there waiting to take us on the short drive to the cabins.
"Nikki do you want some of this drink? It's your favoriteeee" I waved it in her face with a playful smirk but she didn't even look up.
"no thank you"
I stopped smiling and motioned her away from everyone to a bench nearby.
"One second" I told the driver. I realized he was too occupied being lectured by Rebecca on how to stack her luggage- that he didn't even notice us slip away.
"What's going on baby girl?" I bent down to her level as she slowly hopped on the airport chair. She turned her face, a tear sliding down her cheek.
"oh no...my little lady- why are you crying?" I gently wiped the tear off her innocent face. My heart sank seeing it fall. She was usually where I drew my strength from.
"I-I don't want to be here. I just don't want to be here with you guys! I hate it"
She whispered the last words, tumbling over her thoughts and leaving me confused. I felt this terrible guilt. I might not know why she is having behavioral issues but I should be at home with her every night. I have spent so much time mourning Diya that I'm ruining my relationship with my little girl.
"hey, look at me" I picked her small face up. Her round eyes filled with tears.
"I'm sorry that I've been so busy. You're my number one priority. I have not been the dad that I want to be and your mom would be very upset with me....I'm very upset with me. When we go home- things will change. I will be there to tuck you in and I will be there to spend time with you whenever you want. Even if it's at McDonald's"
We smiled at each other a bit when I mentioned McDonald's. I knew she couldn't resist.
"-I know I'm not as good at this as your mom or Diya or Rebecca but I'm going to get better at being your dad...I promise"
Nicole wiped her eyes and gave me a huge hug while she sniffled.
"wait so this means you will let me watch the vampire diaries at the cabins even though it's for grown ups because you're a great dad?"
I wanted to say no but the fact that she was thinking about that at a time like this made me bust out laughing.
She was a real business negotiator- just like her dad.
