Diya's pov
I opened the door to the ballet studio, instantly feeling at home. The all too familiar scent of ballet shoes, sweat and tears lingered.
"Is anyone in here?" I called out softly in the empty ballroom.
"don't tell me that's you Mrs.Almazar"
Mrs. Rekkel smirked at me as she came out of an office.
Kill me.
"wow. They gave you a new studio? That's wonderful Mrs. Rekkel" I faked my congratulations even though I couldn't stand her.
"actually, my studio was bought out and I couldn't afford to outbid them. I was offered a different property and told that It would be mainly rich kids on vacation for short term classes so of course I said yes" she cackled a Disney villain type of laugh. It suited her considering how awful she is.
I smiled awkwardly in return.
"So you're here for the open interviews?" Mrs. Rekkel changed the subject. I was scared that she had questions about Theo or why I was in town so I quickly made up a lie.
"Oh haha Uhm no I actually was just looking into this for Nicole because she vacations here sometimes"
"Oh thank God because I wouldn't hire you with a ten foot pole" she joked.
But honestly, we all know she isn't joking. This bitch hated that the students loved me and despised her.
Could you blame them?
"Shall we see if you're still sharp on your toes"
With entitlement, Mrs.Rekkel sat down and clicked a remote to play music.
This is the part where I should have stormed out but I missed dancing too much. Not to mention, this was a very intimidating woman- who says no to someone like that?
I put my bag down and immediately went into first position. I stayed on beat, using precision to inch my feet across the floor. I jumped and twirled, landing every jump elegantly- holding my damn breathe until Mrs.Rekkel stopped the music.
"You're amazing Mrs.Almazar."
I picked up my bag as I caught my breathe.
"Oh- thank you" I said a bit shocked at her comment. I turned to awkwardly leave (because I had way too much pride to work for her again) but Mrs.Rekkel called out to me.
"Wait"
I turned around to face her.
"I just wanted to say that you're lucky you can dance for fun. Feel blessed that Mr.Hendrix allows you to dance by will and not for work" she flashed a big smile.
