Diya's pov
I woke up to a loud fire alarm ringing in the Cabin.
I jumped up and ran into the kitchen to see Cece cooking.
"I told you that you were gonna wake her up" elias face palmed.
"You act like I personally TOLD the fire alarm to turn on" Cece scoffed.
"Good morning guys. It's okay, I have to go to work anyways" I laughed at them. Of course they try to burn down the cabin with me in it- I always knew something was off with them.
I changed into my uniform for the cabin's lobby-receptionist-assistant-sometimes-other-tasks position. It was a mouthful but easier done than said to be honest. I started four months ago, the very next day that I decided I was gonna start building something of my own.
I was still using cece's borrowed phone and the only old contact I had was my mom's. I tapped my phone on to see 3 missed calls from her. Since I didn't have the people that feel like family anymore, I needed to stay in contact with someone but somehow my mom was worse than being lonely at times.
"hey mom" I greeted her when I heard her pick up.
"I called you three times- why didn't you answer?"
"I was sleeping... and now I'm getting ready for work."
"You wouldn't need to work if you never left that billionaire... but let's see how far being petty will get you"
"he cheated on me mom. What was I suppose to do? Stay? I'm not you..." I replied dryly.
"At least I'm not dumb enough to skip town with a stranger for a miserable life in a trailer park-"
I hung up before she could finish. My blood pressure couldn't take listening to her. Some days we were okay but most days, she found a way to start a fight.
"Knock knock. Is everything okay?" Elias asked.
"yeah, my mom is just being a wonderful human being again." I said sarcastically.
"I'm sorry... but the good news is, I have a surprise for you.... I'll give it to you after work."
I smirked, shaking my head side to side at him. Elias and I still weren't a thing but ever so often, there was tension between us. There were tons of moments just like from that beach day 4 months ago. I knew he really cared about me but I still wasn't healed so I never let anything happen between us. Last time I fucked someone I lived with, things ended...tragically.
So some days I gaslit myself into believing I was delusional about his motives even when I see his boners clear as day. He never tried to hide them but I would never look at them.
"you are too sweet" I smiled. "I'll see you after work then". I gave him a tight hug then left through the cabin's front door. I walked over to the lobby where I was stationed today.
Cece basically worked with me since she always helped her family out but today she was off so it was just me and Cece's cousin. Her name was Amber.
"Diyyyyaaaaaaaa, GUESS WHAT" Amber yelled.
"Wow, your whole family likes to play these guessing games I swear"
"NO SERIOUSLY- GUESS. WHAT."
Amber was dramatic so you never knew if you were gonna get something important or something stupid like an article about how Kim K drinks the blood of children to stay thin. Amber was a bit....how do you say...dumb.
"what's up Amber?"
"YOU KNOW HOW YOU LOVE BALLET?! THEY ARE OPENING UP A BALLET STUDIO 25 MINUTES FROM HERE AND THEY'RE HIRING!!"
I smiled in excitement. Some days I showed the girls that I worked with some simple ballet moves but I never really got to dance anymore, except in my room.
"You think they'll hire me?"
"Of course they will! No one else here really has ballet experience"
I jumped up and down with Amber in the Lobby.
