Diya's pov
I jumped up from my sleep, gasping for air.
"Theooo?" I called out anxiously. The bedside lamp was on but I didn't see him anywhere. I realized it was just Nicole in our bed.
The alarm clock read 5:29am. A shirtless Theo jogged into our room to sit beside me.
"Hey babydoll, bad dream?"
"Yes but I-I was looking for you. Where were you?"
"I fixed our front door's screws princess. They're all tightened and extra safe now. I ran to the store and bought working cameras for the house. I installed one on the front door- I should have done this long ago. I'm also gonna call a gating company to make sure our whole property is locked up. It'll all be okay"
I glanced at Theo's face after rubbing my sleepy eyes- noticing what looked like a tear. He clearly was rambling because he felt guilty. I opened my arms up to invite him into them.
"It's not your fault baby, you know that?" I cooed. He breathed out shakily almost as if he was filled with rage.
"I should've been there" he whispered. I wiped his singular teardrop.
I kissed the top of his head; silently massaging his scalp. We slowly altered into a position of him laying on top of me. He used my boobs as a pillow.
"Why don't we talk about something else? Let's forget about the present for a bit." I smiled as I played with his hair.
"What are our plans for our first Christmas together ?" I continued.
"oh I've actually been meaning to talk to you about that....We're going to spend it with my parents." He explained softly.
"Honestly, I had no clue you were close with them...you don't talk about them much and they don't seem to be around- not to sound rude or anything"
"You don't sound rude baby girl...They aren't the best parents to be honest. They are the type to think money fixes everything. My dad travels a lot, cheats on my mom and then my mom just keeps herself busy so she can pretend we're a big happy family. I can't stand anybody from the Hendrix family if we're being honest." He chuckled dryly.
"You know, You really should have told me sooner about seeing them so I could actually plan."
"I'm only doing it for Nicole's sake and because I need to talk business with my dad- they really are not the best parents honey." He urged.
"Trust me when I say that I know a thing or two about shitty parents...."
We stayed in a comfortable silence while I continued to play with his hair. Nicole slowly woke up and cozied next to us.
"morninnnngg, I want pancakes!" she yawned.
