"My love, do you hear me?"

I looked away from my phone screen to see Theo towering over me.

Tony needed someone to drive him to the hospital and unfortunately, I was his only friend in town. His car got towed and he couldn't afford an Uber ride.

My foot was broken but I really wanted to help. He was always there when I needed him to be so I didn't want to let him down.

"Hey, I think I'm gonna go to Whole Foods. We need a bit of groceries." I lied.

"I can come with you baby. Just let me grab my coat." Theo offered.

"Er no I want to go by myself." I continued. Theo stopped walking towards the coat closet. He turned around to raise his eyebrow in confusion.

"Yeah ? How are you gonna drive there ? Your foot is broken. Do you really think I'm gonna let you be out alone after what just happened? A bit of Groceries are not worth your safety." He rambled.

I rolled my eyes. "Not by myself. I meant that my friend and I are going together."

"What friend?" he questioned as if he were my father.

"Just Sophia and I. It's not that serious." I stated, feeling like he was interrogating me. I hated lying to him but it's just not the proper time to introduce him to Tony.

"Why did you say a friend ? I know Sophia"

"God Athello, I didn't know this was a Jail cell" I half joked, rubbing my temples.

Theo sighed in response.
"Okayyy my love..if you really need your damn groceries that bad-" Theo shuffled around in his pocket, grabbing a credit card.

"Here. And I'll wait up with you until she comes to pick you up. It better be Sophia ."

I internally cussed to myself. He was too smart for his own good. I planned to use his credit card to uber from Tony's place then to hospital. He never looks at his statements anyways unless his accountant brings up something sketchy...but now he was almost definitely going to walk me out to the car.

I responded to Tony letting him know that I was coming and to send me his address. He kept saying his stomach was killing him so I encouraged him to call an ambulance but he refused. He said it was way too pricey. American healthcare man...

I left Sophia a text, hoping she was up.

Please please please

Hiii! I'm up! Is everything okay?

I explained to her how I needed to take a friend to the hospital but I couldn't drive. Luckily, she was on board before I could even finish asking.

"She'll be here in 15 minutes so I better get ready..."

Theo kissed my forehead and nodded in understanding.

"Let me carry you up the steps darling"
