166: Sinking

(a/n this chapter is about the sinking of the Titanic but I don't know how many souls would pass on since I have heard from watching videos that pieces of the wreck are haunted by either souls that had their lives cut short or their residual energy)

2 years later, Hisagi's POV

"Has anyone heard the hype in the living world about this new and unsinkable steamship called the Titanic?" Kiri asked walking into the room" I have, people all over Belfast, England have been talking about it and the course is going to New York, I was down there to do some konso, it was nice to get some nostalgia." Chojiro said.

"The ship is scheduled to set sail in 2 days and I have heard that there have been problems in the engine room and something about a weakened hull, if that ship were to crash then hollows are going to take advantage and if a boat in the nearby area is slow then it'll take 2-4 hours to get to the crash sight." Kiri explained, Hasine sighed heavily" do you think they switched the Titanic for the Britannic?" Hasine asked.

"Probably, I have to ask Omaeda since he sent a few patrol corps members to monitor progress but it's a likely possibility," Kiri said when Ikkaku groaned.

"I hate hospital hollows like I'm pretty sure everyone else does, if people are floating in the ocean then hollows will get impatient and rip their souls out to eat them or dive into the ocean to hunt down souls that are still underwater or trapped on the ship if it did in fact sink, plus the ocean is pitch black, how do we find out way around?" Ikkaku said.

"Demons love hunting and possessing humans at night and when I had to fly in the forest I sent out pulses of my reiatsu to map out where I'm going and closing in on the demons like how bats do it," Hasine said.

"We had no idea what the teacher was trying to say when we had that lesson, you're saying that the pulses will bounce back to you when it hits an obstruction, why didn't I think of that before?" Adelaida asked," we can agree we all didn't get it at first." Jun said when the door opened, Unohana and Komamura were standing in the doorway.

"Toshiro, Rangiku, Kiri, Jun, Jack, Capri, and Hanataro, you will be coming with us in 3 days when the Titanic is a day out on its journey in case it sinks," Komamura said," Kiri, did you explore the ship while you were in the living world?" Unohana asked," yes I did when everyone left so as to not panic everyone to an area of random cold." Kiri said.

"How many people are going to be on that ship?" Komamura asked," from what I heard from Adelaida when she got back and said 3300 people from talking to the captain, I also noticed there were only 20 lifeboats when I flew around the ship, if it were to sink then a lot of people are going to die." Kiri said.

We nodded and continued talking about the flaws along with the comments that the magic users, fullbringers, and quincies said about the Titanic...

6 days later, Capri's POV

We watched as the ship hit the iceberg, frantic shouts and yelling started sounding around 10 minutes later, moving my hand to take my sword out of the sheath, and hollows will come out to attack, and sure enough, after an hour the ship split in half is when the hollows started showing up, unsheathing my sword I held it towards the sea.

"Rompere, Brandelli." I said, the sword broke apart into needles when I heard a scream coming from one of the passengers stranded in the water, looking down the passenger was looking up in horror and watching as a hollow raced down to her, directing the needles toward the hollow I purified it.

Since we were not in the direct moonlight the woman couldn't see us when she looked up to see what had happened" I'm going to take a closer look." Toshiro said and flew down to the ship with Kiri close behind him.

"The ship is sinking, why aren't the men getting on the boats with the women and children? The boats are big enough to fit them." Hanataro said when a few Gargantas opened and several hollows came out" alright, liberate the oppressed Jiyu." Jun said.

Her sword transformed into the curvy broad sword, flew forward a bit, and started spinning the sword by the rope on the bottom of the hilt and sending circles of energy flying at the hollows and purifying them, summons the energy back then whips around and swung an arc of energy at 2 more hollows and purifying them" what the hell is with the energy halos and arcs?!" we heard a man yell.

"Don't summon the giant's arm or sword, we don't need a mass meltdown," Unohana said, Komamura nodded when Kiri and Toshiro got back" people in the lower class cabins are trapped, why did the crew have to put the lower decks on lockdown when the ship is sinking, the class ranking doesn't matter when the ship is sinking," Kiri said.

"Did you free at least a few people?" Unohana asked," we did along with shattering the bars before anyone could see what was going on but we're still unsure if they'll make it above deck." Toshiro said," how many will want to leave if they die, there was a case in New Orlean where slaves were killed and only 2 wanted to leave and the others swore to get revenge on their master." Jun said.

"The souls left behind won't get peace until they realize the accident wasn't their fault, all we can do here is purify the hollows and get the people to safety," Kiri said," did you talk to anyone that wanted anyone dead?" Toshio asked," I did and 3 business executives are wanted dead by this man who worked with these executives." Kiri said.

"So this was planned?" I asked, eyes wide, inside anger boiled within me" it would seem so and I'm just as angry as you since Omaeda told me this." Kiri said," when we get back I'll Hasine about this who might already know, and have Samael come down to bring that man to justice." Unohana said and for the next few hours until the rescue ship arrived, we dealt with the hollows both above and underwater.
