139: Earthquake

(a/n this chapter is about the 1906 California earthquake and the chaos of the aftermath with the hollows making it harder for the recovery, I will do a chapter in the future of the 1923 earthquake in Japan, this is inspired by the story called 100 11th division one-shots)

6 years later, Yamamoto's POV

The captains walked into the meeting hall and got into their rows" what's going on?" Kenpachi asked" an earthquake has struck California and devastated the populations of San Fransico, Santa Rosa, and San Jose, the officers there report that the death toll is rising and there are lost souls everywhere.

Hollows are going to take advantage and wreak havoc, I'm ordering you to get teams together and go down to the epicenters of the quake, also the officers have given us reports that the Stand users, Fullbringer, and Magic users will help from the shadows, as we speak the vice-captains are having a similar meeting." I explained gravely.

"What about demons? Do they also take advantage of disasters like this?" Isshin asked," unfortunately, yes they do like to take advantage of the disaster and try to tempt people or possess them if the humans are in dire need like at this moment, I ordered Raphael to come down with a team of 3 angels to patrol the area since they have never experienced the living world and how people come together." Hasine explained.

The captains nodded" thank you for the report, you have an hour to get your teams together and meet at the Senkaimon, this meeting is adjourned." I said and they left as I looked over to Hasine" you want me to go down there as well?" She asked," that would be preferred, have your friends experienced things like this?" I asked.

"Jack and Aaron went through the hurricane season down in New Orleans, Jun, and Kiri with the earthquakes, Adrian, Capri, and Adelaida never went through any of those if they haven't told me." She said," bring them with you." I said, she nodded and shunpo'ed out.

90 minutes later, Adrian's POV

Coming out of the portal into California the chaos punched me in the face, the entire place is almost completely reduced to rubble as I put a hand to my mouth in shock" oh my god, this is horrible." I said," I know, but we have to push to help as many people as we can." Adelaida said," split up, we'll cover more ground." Hasine said, we nodded and split off in different directions.

I went off to find the hardest area hit following the cries of souls and whimpers of the living assaulting my ears as I went and they were coming from every different direction, soon enough I came across a group of lost souls huddled together and looking to be in agony" let me help you, I'll give you peace." I said gently" please do, we don't want to be here in this chaos." The first soul said, a woman.

Nodding I sent them off when I heard a scream, looking over I saw a young soul running for his life from a huge hollow, I held my hand out" hado #31, Jakaho." I said, my hand glowed red before the red ball of energy was shot and purified the hollow, and then stabbed my sword into the ground.

I said, the entire place turned into an ice rink and shattering all of the hollows in the area" when did it get so cold all of a sudden? Why is there frost on the ground?" Someone that was alive asked as I came out of Shikai" thank you, mister." The young soul said," you're welcome." I said and sent him up to the Soul Society.
