I looked down at the shine of the gold heart, glistening in my trembling hand before I tightened my grasp around it. Letting out a shaky breath, my gaze widened to the white blanket that sat on the landscape, surrounding me.

Her voice echoed through my phone, resonating through the hollow emptiness of my heart. 'I'll be sure to call you back, so leave a message.'

I was just a desolate corpse without her.

The only thing that now accompanied me was the shaking of my hands, along with the fiery ball of panic and grief that sat beside me.

She was gone, but somehow everywhere at the same time.

Her smile, her words, and just the simple glance of her eyes had been imprinted on the back of my head. Now, it was playing like a loop around my head and I couldn't cut it out of my thoughts. I'm not sure if I ever really wanted to cut it all out.

I was in heaven when she was here with me, even if it meant I had to act like I hated her. But now, that she wasn't beside me, I was blazing up with the flames of hell.

But I can't- won't accept it, I'll burn the whole damn world down for her if it meant I could find her again.

"Hey, your back?" A small voice asked beside me; the tiny footsteps of a girl accompanied me. I looked beside to see a brown-eyed girl walking towards me, she had stacks of clothes layered onto her.

"Yeah," I muttered my voice as broken as ever. I wasn't in the mood to talk much, in fact, I found it hard to even think of anything else.

"Mom said that she ran away," Adora responded, a curious tone to her voice.

"Yes, she did," I murmured, holding the golden locket in my hand as I held back the ball of tears stuck in the back of my throat. "For a good reason."

"Is that her locket?" Adora asked, pointing towards the object that lay in my lifeless hand. "I've never seen her wear it."

My lips thinned to a line before I answered. "Because I stole it from her."

"Why would you steal it?" Adora asked, a bit of shock added to the tone of her voice yet still curious. "If your really good at stealing maybe you could steal me a few cookies from Starbucks." She muttered under her breath, as she drew hearts in the snow.

I chuckled a blank laugh. "I stole it because I thought it was my last time seeing her, I couldn't tell her I liked her yet so I just decided to steal her ring," I paused for a second before letting out a slow breath. "I thought maybe I'd be able to see her again if I stole it."

"Oh," Adora answered before noticing something else on my hand. "Did you steal that ring too?"

I nodded my head. "She gave this back to me," I answered, looking at the emerald green ring that sat on my pinky. "

"Is it because you loved her?" Adora asked, taking a seat beside me.

I let out a slow breath. "Love?" I repeated.

"Yes. Did you love her?" Adora asked again.

"Always," I answered back a bit hesitant.

Adora didn't say anything as the air around us settled to silence before a huge thud accompanied us from the inside, she peered over her shoulder for a second before she sighed. "Aren't you going to come inside? Mom is really whiny and I need someone to shut her up," Adora asked, rubbing the tip of her foot into the snow.

I looked back at the door, a sigh emitting from my mouth before I stood up. The pearl-white snow crunched beneath my feet as I walked towards the door leading to hell. As soon as I pushed it open I was welcomed by the screeching of nails across sandpaper.
