A couple hours later me and Ethan began practicing as I told him what to do then proceeded to show him how to do it as I sat down and watched him.
"Remember side to side." I said while I watched him paint the side of the dojo house "you know I could have this finished in two minutes with a paint sprayer." He replied chuckling as he looked at me.
"Then you'll be missing the point of the lesson." I said giggling as he rolled his eyes at me "I think I am done." He said putting the paint brush down "great...now you can wax my car." I said getting up and walking out to the front driveway.
"Wait, wait...what?" He questioned me as I handed him the waxing materials as he looked at me in confusion. "Remember wax on...wax off." I replied demonstrating the moves to him as he followed my lead.
"Done." He said putting the stuff down as he walked up to me "great...now on to my favorite part." I said with a smirk on my face as I looked at him.
A little while later he comes out from the house changed into some old clothes as he walked up to me "I'm changed...now what the hell am I doing now?" He asked me "you are going to learn something that every student in Miyagi-do has to learn." I replied.
"And, what's that?" He asked me "kata." I said turning to look at him "what the hell is kata?" He asked "it's a form of meditation in Miyagi-do....it's something we use to center ourselves before a fight or if you need to balance yourself to prepare for something." I replied with a smile on my face.
"Alright, I'm ready." He said getting into fighting stance "oh, your not learning it here." I said looking at him "then, where am I learning it?" He questioned "on there." I replied pointing at the round table in the middle of the koi pond.
"What!" He exclaimed "yep, get up there." I said patting his shoulder as he walked into the water hopping up on the table shortly after.
"Good, good...now show me the moves Ethan." I said as he quickly caught on to the routine as he picked up his pace "I think I got it." He mumbled as he turned to look at me making him face plant directly into the water as I laughed at him.
"You okay?" I asked walking up to the edge of the pond "yep, are we done, yet? I'm freezing." He questioned "yeah...get out of there." I said giggling as he splashed me with water on his way out.
"Hey!" I exclaimed while giggling "thanks for teaching me today." He said as he dried himself off "no problem...I remember when I was in your shoes." I said with a smile on my face.
