Rain

It was the weekend before our fight against Roppongi.

I actually had free time today, so I headed to the skate park after putting on my most skater-looking fit. It was composed of some baggy pants and a loose shirt plus some chains along with an accent belt. Mitsuya would approve. I also needed to repaint my board. The design I have right now was the one I painted ages ago. It's needs an update.

The park was pretty empty since it was kind of raining. Not really. It was just some drizzles and I don't really mind rain. And that'll mean since the work is empty, I get the entire play to myself. The skate park was right next to a river and between the park and the edge of the river was a few yards of grass and some benches facing the river.

I walked towards the bench to set down some of my stuff and as I did, I saw a familiar mop of black hair with blonde heading in this direction. Hanma.

We started talking a lot more after the whole detention thing. He memorized the times when I went to library and would always be hanging out in there to see me. He'd come by the student council room every so often and started causing a lot of trouble while I was within earshot so I'd come talk to him. He looked kinda tired, though. Well, maybe not tired. Just a bit dazed. I waved to him, calling, "Hanma!!" He looked over at me with his dazed yellow eyes and started walking to the bench where I was. I greeted him with a smile which he didn't return. That's weird. Hanma always smiles. As soon as he reached me he wrapped his arms around me kinda tightly and buried his face into my shoulder. I stiffened at this strange interaction. What caused this all to even happen? Did I say something last time we talked? I don't get it. I still awkwardly returned the hug, though, patting him on the back, "You good?" He nodded against my shoulder. I pulled away after a minute or so and walked back and sat down on the bench. I felt a little dizzy after that. He stared at me for a while, his eyes still dazed. "What? Why're you staring at me?" Hanma sighed with a soft smile, "Your voice is so pretty. So is your smile. And your eyes. And your laugh. And your-" "That's enough flattering. What do you want?" I laughed, rolling my eyes. His face was unreadable, and he turned towards the river so I couldn't see it. Hanma stood in silence for a bit before running a hand through his hair.

He said in a such a soft voice that I had to strain my ears to hear, "You might think I'm just playing around. I'll admit, at first I was. But Y/N L/N...you make me feel. That sounded so cheesy, ew. Anyways. I feel things other than the thrill from the delinquent life." He scoffed, "Delinquent type of thrill barely even compares to this type of feeling. You think I talk to everyone like I do with you?" I nodded to which he responded, "Nah. I can actually talk to you. I don't feel the need to choose my words. It's so casual. You think I just try to see you because I wanna bother you? No, I'm obsessed. Like crazy obsessed. With the way you talk to your friends, the way you scan through the books in the library, the way you stare out the window during class. I don't wanna seem creepy by all this. I'll admit at first I didn't think any of this. But you talk to me in such a strange way. It's so genuine and sincere. And your eyes are soft. Soon I started noticing myself looking over at you more. That turned into admiring. Then I noticed how I'd try to go see you. That turned into changing my entire schedule just to catch a glimpse of you. And then I noticed how I acted different around you. How I felt different around you. That turned into this whole mess."

He ran a stressed hand through his hair, which was now wet from the rain, as he walked towards me, where I was sitting on the bench, and sat down on the ground in front of it.

He rested his head on my lap, wrapping his arms loosely around me. "I'm confused," he breathed.

His voice seemed to shake. I felt tears fall into my lap as I started gently running my fingers through his hair.

"I'll be honest, I don't really know what to say right now." "Don't say anything. Just stay here with me."

The rain started pouring but neither of us paid much mind to it. It felt like we were stuck in our own little bubble. Nothing else mattered. We were all that existed. I think Hanma might have just confessed his love to me. I just don't think he knows that though. He's a little dense. If i'm being honest, I never really had a huge crush on him, but it's not like I don't like him. I kind of like him. Not enough for a crush, but not so less for it to not be anything at all either.

The sun was still shining though the raindrops and reflecting on the puddles. The rivers currents had gotten louder, and our clothes were drenched. I think Hanma might've fell asleep. We've been here a while now. I pushed his shoulder back and he lifted his head up from my lap, still wide awake. "Oh, I was just making sure you were awake."

He laughed, standing up. The regular look in his eyes had reappeared. The moment was over.

"Sorry about all that. I don't know what that was. I think I got possessed by something. Pretend it never happened."

I stared at him in disbelief for a bit and he didn't back down from it. A while later his usual smirk returned too. "Well, Y/N, you're going to sick if you stay in the rain any longer." "And you?" "Nah, I don't get sick. I'm just built different," he shrugged. "That's not how it works," I shook my head, grabbing his hand and leading him away. "Where are we going?" "To get some medicine and some bandages. I saw that cut on your hand, y'know? Can't hide it from me," I smiled at him. He gave me a soft smile back, following along.

When we got to the store, we stood in front of the medical aisle just staring at it. "I don't what to do." Hanma laughed. "Don't laugh! You probably can't find anything either." I challenged. He picked up a bottle of regular sickness medicine and a box with bandage wraps. "Here." I looked at him, surprised. "Alright, then."

We payed for the things and headed out. He started walking towards the right. "Hey, where you going?" "Just follow me." I did. He had been heading towards his motorcycle. He turned on the engine and sat down, motioning for me to do the same. I got on behind him, and put my hands on his shoulder.

"Your gonna need to hang on a bit tighter than that," he advised. I shook my head, "I'm always on motorcycles. I'll be fine." He took that as a challenge.

I could tell because we were going way faster than me and Baji ever did while racing. He swerved through cars like a crazy person, barely missing the sides of them. I had wrapped my arms tightly around his torso. I saw his smirk widen when I did. Wind, rain, and lights were the only other things I could sense. Whenever I loosened my hold, he would drive extra fast and go super close to the other cars. The wind was howling in my ears as we cut through it. I hid my face into his back, not wanting to see all the blurs or get the raindrops in my eyes. They made my head spin. I lifted my head when he slowed down a bit. "We're here," he told me.

We stopped in front of an ice cream shop. "Ice cream? Right now? In the rain? We're gonna get even more sick." He shrugged, pulling me along. We ordered our stuff and sat down at the table in the corner booth next to the window. There weren't many people here, except for the crazy ones like us.

Before he could change the subject, I grabbed his hand, and yanked it towards me. "What's all this?" He laughed. "I told you you couldn't hide it," I shrugged, getting the bandages out of the bag, and unwrapping them. "This is going to be a very crappy patch up, but it should work." He smiled and winked at me, "If you put enough love into it, it might." I stared at him and shook my head in playful disapproval. "I'm not kidding, y'know?" I yanked his hand and wiped the cut, a bit harshly, because of his comments. He hissed in pain and I let go immediately, but he started smiling after, so I knew he was still playing with me. I tilted his hand backwards, silently threatening to twist it and his smile dropped as he shook his head urgently, causing me to laugh at his sudden attitude change.

"You have such a nice laugh.." He breathed.
