A few weeks later
We had called a meeting after winning the fight against Rokuhara Tandai and officially disbanded Toman. Some of the division captains and vice captains were pretty shocked. Some members looked a little disappointed while some were angry. But there were also those how looked relieved. Those who felt content with the decision. And I was one of them.
Everything returned back to normal after that, y'know. The usual school stuff, hanging out after and all that. I'll admit, a part of me missed being in Toman. I wanted to fight again.
I started going to the dojo a lot more often, which Mikey's grandpa greatly approved of. I would spar with people there and it made me realize how much better this sort of thing is. This way, I won't risk my position as student council president and won't have to worry about anyone finding out that I'm delinquent. Because I'm not anymore. And I'm sort of proud of that. It felt like growing into something even better.
But, obviously, our usual shenanigans still went on. I was outside the school, looking over the garden club when one of the council members ran up to me. "The culinary club needs you." I nod, turning to the garden club. "Alright, you guys seem to be doing good, so I'll go over there now." I turned and walked with the council member to the culinary room.
We could hear the shouting down the hallway. I slid the door open and the shouting paused for a moment. There seemed to be a bit of conflict going on. "What's going on?" I ask to the whole group. Everyone started talking at once. "He wants us to make the biscuits-" "-she didn't even preheat the dough-" "-why's he the president of the club-" "-I thought you could do better-"
"Woah, woah. One at a time!" I shouted, trying to get everything under control. It's always the culinary club. After everyone explained, it narrowed down to a conflict between two people.
There's a lot of people in the culinary club, so it's separated into two sections. Both the section leaders are arguing on what to make for the bake sale. I had them both step outside. I lean against the wall, crossing my arms. "Okay, so both of you can explain your point then decide on something together, okay?" I suggest. "That's what we've been trying to do!" "Don't be like that! It didn't work because you think you're always right!" "Hey! Don't start again. Okay, you go first."
One of the guys gave me a glare, "Why do you even care? You're literally not even helping, just being annoying." My expression switched but I quickly covered the slip up. "It's kind of my job, y'know," I reasoned. The other one nodded, "She's the president, so.." The guy scoffed, "Doesn't mean she can be bossy all the time, like literally no one is talking to you." I stare at the ground, blankly before looking back up at both the group leaders. "Alright. You guys can figure it out, and once you do, just send someone to come tell me, okay?" I shrug, walking out of the hallway.
I couldn't stop thinking about what he said. Honestly, it was probably just him being irritated with everything and reflecting it onto me, but a part of me couldn't help but think he could be right. Did people actually think I was too bossy? Am I not helpful? Is it actually annoying? I thought I was doing a pretty good job. But I guess not. I blinked away the tears that I didn't notice were forming in my eyes. I took a deep breath, calming myself then turned the corner.
As I did, I bumped right into someone. At that point, I couldn't care less, and just started bawling. The person stared at me, a bit shocked at first. I didn't even look to see who it was until I heard Baji's voice. "The fuck are you crying for? I didn't even bump into you that hard."
I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. He just kinda stood there awkwardly until I was done. "Okay, now can you tell me?" I nodded, taking a deep breath before going off into a rant, "I was just tryna help in the culinary thing and the kids from the other club, and the culinary club, and the presidents started arguing, and I told the other club, that I, that I said I couldn't, and I tried to fix it, but he got mad, and said, told me I was annoying, and I thought I was helping, but he said not and I just-" I burst into tears again.
"Who got mad?" "T-the one kid with the glasses that's in the culinary club and-" but that was enough for Baji to understand. He started walking away. I guess he probably got annoyed.
I sniffled, and walked into the council room to calm myself. Not even five minutes later, someone runs in, pulling the door open, frantically looking around until he sees me. "Pres, there's a fight!"
I sigh, standing up, and walking back into the hallway. He leads me to the hallway where there's a huddle of students, surrounding the people fighting. I push past them, walking into the middle.
I gasp when I see Baji beating up the kid who told me those things earlier. He wasn't holding back at all. There were people encouraging them, which I highly disapproved of. I walked towards them, as Baji landed another punch on him. Obviously, Baji was winning. A regular student was no match for a Toman captain.
I pulled the kid away, standing in front of him before Baji could land another punch.
"What are you doing?" I hissed, pulling Baji away from the crowd, which was slowly starting to disperse. He chuckled, "I don't know. I got bored." I gave him a glare. "If you're gonna lie at least make it believable."
He simply shrugged and started another conversation topic. I sighed at how unbothered he was by this, but smiled to myself anyways.
