Yesterday, we had a Toman meeting. Mikey had announced a fight with a group named Tenjiku. He said they were going to be a bit difficult to win against. They consisted of many strong executives, which we don't exactly know of yet, and have over three hundred people. They do have more numbers then us, but Toman has a lot of good people too, y'know.
Either way, I felt like training a bit. I hadn't practiced in so long because of council work, and we hadn't had any fights recently either. Mikeys probably going to make me sit in the back, anyways, but if we want to win this fight, we'll need to do better. Also, we don't exactly know what we're up against either so we need to be prepared. That's why i'm at the gym right now, sparring with whoever wants to fight. I would've gone to the dojo but I need a change of scenery. This gym wasn't pretty busy around this time of day, but there was still people to spar with. Right now, I was sparring with a guy who looked like your average delinquent. I beat him too, and the next person walked up.
This guy was super tall, with dark hair, two different colored eyes and a scar across one of them. I feel like I've seen him before.
"You seem to be the star in this gym," he said. His voice was low but calm. "I guess so," I shrugged. "How'd you like to spar against me?" He offered. "Alright."
We got in our stances and the countdown went off. I immediately went to strike him in the side. He caught on pretty quickly and moved over. I went to kick him, which he also blocked off using his arm. I pushed off his arm, flipping through the air, and kicking the back of his head. He barely swept to the side. Ugh, I keep missing. He's really good. Doesn't mean he's better, though.
I swept my legs across his feet. He didn't fall. In fact, it barely affected him. He has a lot of raw strength. Except I'm the one doing all the attacks. He's just defending. I tried again, doing a spin-kick. His arm buckled under my knee, and I tumbled to the ground. No way he beat me. "There was no way you just.." I started. He kneeled down in front of me. "I've been studying your techniques for a while now. That's why."
"My techniques? How do you know me?" He shrugged, "Well my boss seems intrigued by you, so I did some research. And it turns out your the Dragonfly we've been hearing so much about. I watched you fight multiple times, and you really are impressive." "Woah, woah, hold on. So you're in a delinquent group? And your boss? Who's he?" He shook his head, "I can't tell you that." "Oh, so you can tell me that you've been watching me, but not who your boss is?" I snapped. "I believe you've met him already. On multiple occasions. He's like, smitten by you or something, and I don't know why."
I smirked, "Are you jealous, random guy?" "My names Kakucho." "That still doesn't answer my question. Anyways, what gaang are you part of?" "Tenjiku," he answered.
I mentally gasped, "You're from Tenjiku! Please tell me you're an executive and not a regular member, because otherwise we'd be screwed." That made him slightly smile, "I'm the vice captain." "You're the vice captain! No wonder you're so good at fighting." "You think I'm good?" I nodded.
"So like, why do you guys have beef with us? Toman hasn't done anything and I haven't heard of any conflicts with Tenjiku," I questioned. He paused a bit before answering, "Well, I think the boss's personal matters are one of the reasons. And this one guy named Kisakis convincing him to be even more upset. I don't know, I get weird vibes from him." I actually gasped this time, "Kisaki joined Tenjiku! Last time he was in Toman and we kicked him out because he was doing the same to Mikey, and now he's manipulating your boss too?" "Well, I wouldn't say manipulating." "It's manipulating." "Well, okay then. But yeah, I suppose so. I know my boss since we were little kids, and he wouldn't normally act like this."
I sighed, "It's all Kisaki, I'm telling you. He doesn't seem like a bad person at first, but his methods of getting things done is bad. Tell you what, do you really want this fight?" Kakucho seemed surprised. He didn't say anything for a bit and I noticed.
"You can give your honest answer y'know. You won't offend me if you say yes." "Well my boss-" "It's not about your boss. I'm asking you. Do you want this fight?" He shook his head no. I continued with my questions, "Do you think that your boss, if not being manipulated, would want this fight?" He hesitated but shook his head again. "Well, then maybe we could call it off somehow?" I suggested.
He looked at me like I was crazy. "Call it off? How?" "Well, I can talk to Mikey, and you can talk to your boss. Side note, I'd still like to know his name."
"You don't understand. You're the Dragonfly, you have influence on Tomans divisions. I can't just talk to my boss about it. He's pretty stubborn when he decides things." I scoffed, "Your boss sounds like a pain." He seemed mad about me saying that.
"But maybe we could still do something about it. Like Kisakis causing the problem here, right? Maybe we can go talk some sense into him." Kakucho sighed, "Yeah, but he's got his little psycho guy with him. The one with the hand tattoos?"
I realized immediately, "Hanma?" He nodded. "Hanmas not that bad. And he's not psycho. I'll talk to him, so maybe we could talk to Kisaki." "You make it sound like it's easy. I've been trying this whole time too." I shrugged, "Well now you have me so don't worry about it too much."
He smiled faintly, "That's weirdly comforting but concerning at the same time." I giggled, standing up, and offering him a hand.
He took it, and we shook hands. "I'm Y/N." "I already know." "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. Anyways, you like ramen? I'm kinda hungry. We can plan on the way there."
We both left the gym and headed towards the ramen shop. We sat down after ordering our food and exchanged numbers so we could contact each other. "So, did you ask Hanma about where they'll be tomorrow?" He asked. "Oop," I muttered. I did not, but when he said that, I pulled out my phone and texted him.
Hanma replied but asked why. "He's asking why. What do I say?"
Kakucho just shrugged, "Just make up an excuse." "Like what!" I whisper yelled as if Hanma could hear me. "Say you were just wondering."
I texted that and Hanma didn't seem to fully believe me but he didn't ask any more questions. "So what? Are we just gonna show up and beat Kisakis ass?" I shook my head, "Of course not." "You said we would knock some sense into him." "I said we would talk some sense into him. What's beating him up gonna do? Convince them to stop the fight? I'm part of Toman, so that'd add a reason to fight. We just need to talk to him, like ask him why he's doing everything. And maybe we could help solve his problem so he can stop bothering everyone. Then we could go all go talk to your boss and get him to call off the fight."
"You think he's just going to tell you his entire life story?" Kakucho said. "Do you have any better ideas? Exactly, no, so don't be all criticizing. It could work."
He sighed, "Why do you just want to solve everyone's problems? Like why are you bothering with this whole deal in the first place? You don't have to fix everything, y'know." I smiled, "I just don't have anything better to do."
"That's not the real reason is it?" He noticed. He was right. It's not the real reason. "That's a conversation for another time. You still trusted me with all this, didn't you?" "You have a point." "So, I guess that's the plan for tomorrow." Kakucho pulled out his phone and opened the maps. "So Hanma said they'll be here right? That's a popular spot for delinquents to hang out at. We need to be careful so we don't end up in a fight with them."
"I can do that." "Good."
