Senju came to visit next, then Kakucho did. I had met everyone now. Except for Mikey. Every time I asked them to explain what happened in detail they said to ask Mikey. But I couldn't ask him if he wouldn't come visit me.
They said he just needed time but I wanted to see him, honestly. After the visits, it was almost nighttime the nurse kicked everyone out the room, and told me to go to sleep. Except, I didn't feel tired at all.
"Can I go for a walk? I'll be back really quick." She hesitated a bit but agreed. "Alright, but take one of your friends with you, though."
The first person I ran into was Sanzu. "Y/N," he breathed, grabbing my shoulders. "Oh, hey Sanzu! Wanna go on a walk with me?" "I thought you were supposed to be in your-" "Yeah, but I got bored." "Can you walk properly?"
I shrugged, "We'll seeeee." I started jogging a bit then tipped over to the side. Sanzu caught me quickly, looking concerned. I smiled at his face. "I guess that means I can't." "Then you should go back to bed," he suggested. "Nah, I'm bored and I'm not tired at all." "Well, then I guess we can go."
He supported my side, and we slowly walked towards the garden. The cold night air grazed my skin. It felt kind of refreshing to get away from that hospital lighting.
"So did you just now get here?" I asked. He nodded, "Yep. I finished cleaning up after the fight, so I headed straight here. I wanted to go to your side right after." I smiled.
We walked in silence for a bit, and Sanzu kept his arm around my waist, making sure I don't fall over. We continued walking through the garden for a bit in comfortable silence.
"So, what happened last night? No one wants to tell me. They say to ask Mikey, but he won't come see me, so." "...I guess I could tell you," Sanzu answered.
* * * * *
starts from last night
Toman was just now preparing to go fight Tenjiku. All the captains were present. The vice leader was present. Every division was present. So, what were they waiting for?
Well, they couldn't find their Dragonfly. Toman doesn't go to fight without its Dragonfly. She's their symbol, after all. But no one could figure out where she was.
All until some news spread around that she had been stabbed by Kisaki. No one wanted to believe it. They knew their Dragonfly wouldn't let someone like Kisaki injure her. But, it was true.
When the news reached the captains, time froze. No one knew what to do, how to react. When it reached Mikey it all fell apart. It seemed as if you had stacked too many things onto a board, and the board finally snapped in half. Which would leave everything to crash to the ground, and cause a mess. And that was exactly what happened.
This was the first time Toman ever went to a fight without a Dragonfly. And, it sure was a fight. Everything was blur that night. The rain poured as the storm continued to rage. Except, the storm was not the only one raging. Something had broken in Mikey. He no longer had any conscious of what was truly going on. Dark Impulse had taken over. And the Impulse Mikey cared for nothing that night. The only thing that was on his mind was violence. That reflected onto the great amount of Tenjiku members that had been wiped out, only by him. No one dared to step in front of him. Fury was the only thing emitting from him.
But a part the actual Mikey was still there. And that part only thought of her. He could still smell her scent from when they last hung out. He could see her smile when he closed his eyes. He could hear her laugh. He wanted to find her immediately. To go to her side right then and there.
The Dark Impulse Mikey stopped him, though. Until Izana's words broke him out of the trance. After dealing with Kisaki, which was also quite the scene, Mikey spoke to no one, nor did he even make eye contact with them. When they reached the hospital everyone waited in the hallway. Mikey stayed outside, sitting against the wall, behind the hospital.
He wouldn't be able to handle the mood inside. He knew he would've cried, and he didn't want to do that in front of others. Tears spilt and he let them, burying his face in his hands. He didn't know what he would do. What if she gave up? What if she rested her eyes? What if she didn't come to greet him tomorrow with a cute smile? What if she didn't fight by his side again? What would he do then?
He quietly sobbed to himself, resting his head against the wall. He couldn't take it. He needed a hug. From her.
Mikey felt confused. He didn't know to feel sad or angry or nervous or tired. At this point he was about to just go hysterical. Like he did earlier with his fighting spree. He didn't know how to deal with these emotions when she's normally the one who helps him with them. She's the one who's always by his side. The one who he looks forward to seeing everyday. The one who smiles at him so kindly even after knowing the other part of him. The one who makes him feel like he can actually be happy.
But, he knows. He knows how stubborn she is, and he knows she won't give up on this at all. He breathed in and out slowly, running a hand through his hair. Mikey didn't want to see or talk to anyone else but her right now, so he rarely joined them in the hallway.
Until later at night, they heard that she would be perfectly fine. It felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from the room. Everyone shouted happily, cheering, until the nurse told them to be quiet.
Mikey went back outside, and slumped against the wall, tears spilling again. This time, they were tears of happiness and relief. He knew it from the beginning. But he was so relieved. So, so glad to hear that he would be able to tell her the words he wanted to.
I love you. That's all he wanted to say.
He wouldn't waste time anymore. He would tell her first thing when she wakes up. He didn't know how to contain his emotions. Everything was so overwhelming and happened so quickly.
But one question stayed on his mind. How would she react? What face would she makes when she heard what he did? What about when she hears of the Impulse? How would she see him after? She's known about it, and she's seen the Dark Impulse herself, but this time it was completely different. What if she's scared of him? What if she hates him after finding out how many people he hurt? What if she never talks to him again? That was what made Mikey avoid her the whole day.
Everyone went to see her, and he could hear their laughs from outside. He could hear her voice. She sounds so happy. Would finding out ruin her happiness?
A part of him yearned to go and see her. To capture her in a hug and never let go.
But the other part was scared. Scared that she might not see him the same, and they wouldn't be able to call each other friends.
How could someone love a monster like him? She deserves a nice guy. Someone who doesn't have problems like this, and can make sure she's always smiling. It was night by now, and Mikey still hadn't went to see her. He wanted to so badly. But he couldn't decide.
He didn't have to though, since there she was, running towards him, with the support of Sanzu and her arms out and a cute smile.
