I dropped my head onto the desk, groaning. Sorla patted my back, "I feel the same." We had just finished a council meeting for the festival and all the clubs and some of the classes had already started preparing for it.
Half the school is still here at four, which means that I still have to be in my council president role. Sanzu was sitting next to me in the chair. I don't know why, but he doesn't talk much so no one in council says anything about it. Even the secretary hasn't said a word. Now if it was Hanma or Senju, chaos would break loose. The door slid open and everyone immediately picked up things to throw in case it was them two. It was the volleyball clubs captain. He slid the door open, saw everyone about to attack him, then closed it again.
I sighed, "Guys, put them down." I walked up to the door, and stepped out. Sanzu followed shortly after, and waited behind me. "Sorry about that. Some of my friends have been coming in to the council room and they thought it might've been them. You're fine, though." "O-oh okay. I just wanted to make sure you said that the volleyball club could use the second gym." I nodded, "I do remember saying that." Haru hummed in question, "Well, Class 3 said that they were supposed to use it for their play, but we already started setting it up and they brought all their props in, so it's a bit of a mess." "Oh. I'll talk to the other council members then meet you at the gym, okay?"
Haru was about to say something but was cut off by some girl zooming towards us. "PRES!" "Yes?" She took a minute to catch her breath then said, "The swim team said they were using the pool, but we have our resort cafe decorations up already! Tell them we were there first!" I sighed again, as more people rushed towards us. "Pres, I was just about to come find you. We messed up on one of the dishes for our cafe, and the culinary kids are mad at us. There's an all out food fight in the culinary room right now."
"You guys are doing a cafe? We're doing a cafe!" "It's a different kind of cafe!" "It's still a cafe, though. Of course you unoriginal hooligans would take our idea!" "Pres, they're painting the wall blue outside." "They're doing what now!?"
The bickering continued and I managed to slip back into the council room. Sanzu followed. "Guys. It's a mess outside. Who told Class 3 they could use the second gym? And why's the gardening club painting walls? What does that have to do with plants?"
Everyone just shrugged, mumbling their answers. They were all busy currently, either organizing the folders, planning the events, or talking to the other classes. Looks like I'm gonna be the one to settle all this. I turned and left the room, Sanzu still following me. I headed to the culinary room first, since that seems to be the most important issue at hand.
And they were right, there was and all out brawl in here. There were kids throwing things and punching each other and slipping on drinks and what not. I took a deep breath and shouted, "EVERYONE FREEZE!!" The room fell silent and they stopped. I crossed my arms, looking pissed. "Does somebody want to explain all this?" They all started talking at once.
"They ruined the ingredients for our bake sale!" "You don't need a bake sale, we're doing a cafe, it's practically the same thing!" "These idiots can't even bake some cupcakes, and they want to do a cafe." "Not even that, they're using our culinary room." "It's the schools, we can all use it." "Why are you guys baking anyways? You should cook something. You guys are the culinary club not the baking club." "It's the same category!" "Who let them in here?" "You can't be talking." "Well, I am."
I sighed again, looking over at Sanzu who merely shook his head. "One at a time!!" I shouted. They fell silent again. I pointed at some guy in the culinary club, "You. Tell me what happened." He told me their side of the story. I pointed at a girl from Class 2. She also explained what happened from their point of view. I sorted out the matter, and told them that if the room wasn't clean by the time I came back to check on them, neither the club or the class would be able to hold an event. They seemed pretty satisfied with my decision, but not with the cleaning. I mean, someone was going to have to deal with it, and I don't want to. I turned around, and Sanzu followed again.
"Sorry about all this," I sighed as we walked down the hallway. He shrugged, "It's kind of funny to see you yelling at people." He was wearing his mask right now so his voice was muffled, but usually when it was just us two he would take it off.
We headed to the garden club next. They were, in fact, painting an entire wall. "What is all this?" I asked as we got there. They'd even somehow found a ladder to paint the top parts. They explained that they were working with the class who was doing the resort cafe next to the pool, and were gardening exotic plants to add to it. But, it didn't work so now they were painting them onto the wall. "Yes, but you're not allowed to paint school property." "Well, we don't know what else to do about it. The festivals next week we can't plant more by then." I shrugged, "Just use cardboard cutouts. I'd much rather prefer you guys painting on those instead of a wall." They all turned to look at each other. "Why didn't we think of that!"
"Then we can move the painted plants too. We can't move walls." "Unless we brought a bulldozer." "I know where to find one." "No bulldozers please," I pressed. These kids are stressing me out. "Thanks, Pres. You're so smart." Sanzu let out a laugh as we headed towards the gym. "What?" "They really didn't think that through at all did they?"
I shook my head, also laughing, "Talking about bringing bulldozers and everything. You have to admit, though. They're really into the festival planning this year. Last year, barely anyone showed up and the council mostly had to do the work."
Sanzu replied, "Its because you weren't the president last year." "I don't think this is all my influence." "It is though."
I flushed, "That's just how it's supposed to be." "Whatever you say," he sighed. A group of people was passing by and I bumped into one of them. Of course, it was Inui. "Can you stop running into me?"
I glared at him. "You were the one who ran into me." He rolled his eyes and walked away. "Who's that loser?" Sanzu scoffed.
"It's just Inui," I answered. "Should I have brought my katana?" I stared at him, wide eyed. "Sanzu, no!" "I could go get it-" We both went quiet at the scene in front of us in the gym.
The stage was fully decorated in beautiful rainforest props, and fairy lights. But there was something out of place. Which was the volleyball players, trying to cut down the paper vines with the magical staffs so they could get back there and get their equipment. On the gym floor was the volleyball net and many volleyballs scattered everywhere. The thing out of place here was the actors dressed up in fairy and wizard costumes playing volleyball everywhere, while tripping over vines and other stage props that had somehow got there. Some of them had their costumes and uniforms mixed up so occasionally you'd see a volleyball player dressed in a flowy dress and sports headband, and someone with a crown and staff wearing a volleyball uniform. It was like a sports documentary and a fairytale book had chaotically merged together.
"What's going on here?" We went and sorted that matter out too. I sighed in relief, sitting in the bleachers, watching everyone get back to their original spots. Sanzu had went to help clean up all the volleyballs and props. The entire school was going to be in chaos these next two weeks.
Haru, the captain, walked up, and sat next to me. "Thanks for helping out with this." I shrugged, "It's no problem." "So, I know this might not be the time but, do you think you'd be available after school tomorrow. I'm pretty sure you don't have any meetings."
"Um, yeah, most likely. Why?""I was just wondering if you'd like to go with me to-" He got hit by a volleyball. "Oh, are you okay?" I asked. Haru nodded. Sanzu walked up to us, retrieving the ball.
He smiled at Haru, "Sorry. Must've hit it a bit too far to the right."
