Vince entered the kitchen and was a bit surprised to see his two siblings standing awkwardly, "Hey, what are you two doing here." he raised his long eyebrow, eyes flickering over the two as he took off his jacket.

Miray shrugged, her big eyes flashing with anxiety. "Midnight hunger." she joked, turning around to fiddle with the plates, trying to avoid eye contact as she felt her chest growing tight.

She felt like breaking down.

Emily has just demonstrated how weak she was without someone defending her...

She hated it.

"What's wrong?" Vince exclaimed, worry crossing his expression as he walked toward Miray, throwing Noah a questioning look.

Noah shrugged and didn't reply, standing beside them with furrowed eyebrows.

Miray almost laughed at how Vince could now analyze her voice. She tried to smile and turn around to reassure him with one of her lies, but her eyes were tearing up.

"Nothing, you are late." she said instead, fiddling with the plates anxiously. She quickly blinked and took tiny, secret breaths, trying not to choke.

Miray felt Vince's arms sneak around her waist and a kiss on her cheek. "What happened? Hmm?" he asked quietly, tilting his head to look at her. "Why are you upset?"

Although he was speaking softly, Miray knew he was angry by how tense his muscular frame was.

She took a deep breath and turned around to face him "I just missed you." she replied, slumping against his chest, suddenly exhausted.

Vince pulled away slightly and cupped her face, tilting her face up so she could look at him. "That's all?" he pressed, dark eyes studying her intently.

Miray nodded, albeit with a pout. "Where w-were you?" she asked, a frown tugging down at her lips when she noticed his damp hair.

It only meant one of two things: He either was with a girl - which was fine - or...

Miray flickered her gaze to his hands, her frown deepening when she noticed his bruised knuckles. "You were fighting again?" she asked brokenly, tears springing to her eyes.

She wasn't only crying because of that. Him going back to fighting was the final straw because Miray felt like crying the moment Emily pulled her hair, and she couldn't defend herself. She just stood there and took it.

She was weak, yet she acted tough because she was totally relying on others.

Pathetic.

Miray felt miserable.

Vince's eyebrows furrowed worriedly, "Rei, don't cry..." he stressed, his warm brown eyes turned on Noah again with concern, but the latter looked as helpless as him.

Vince pulled a chair and sat on it, pulling Miray into his lap, his arm wrapped around her waist securely. "Shh, it's okay, don't cry, talk to me, what's wrong?" he looked desperately at her, his hand rubbing her arm gently as he planted kisses on her head.
