Miray gradually regained consciousness, her senses awakening to the comforting touch of gentle fingers playing with her hair. Blinking her eyes open, she found herself greeted by the most exquisite sight—Vince's captivating eyes, filled with a unique tenderness reserved solely for her.
She smiled sleepily, and Vince's face immediately lit up with a matching smile. With a gentle motion, she raised her hand and delicately brushed her fingers through his short hair. Vince's eyes fluttered closed, savoring the delightful sensation her touch brought.
In that tranquil moment, Miray couldn't help the rush of warmth and reassurance that enveloped her being.
It was because of these beautiful moments that Miray felt glad she wasn't dead... yet.
They stayed in bed for a while, savoring each other's company, until they heard Damian's voice calling their names for breakfast. Reluctantly, they got up, freshened up, changed their clothes, and joined the rest in the kitchen.
Vince sported a white t-shirt that accentuated his biceps and black jeans that showcased his long, athletic legs. Miray, on the other hand, opted for a stunning white dress gifted by Luke, who seemed to like her previous dress a lot.
As they stepped into the kitchen, Miray was caught off guard by Ren's sudden embrace, as if he had been anxiously awaiting her arrival. Regaining her composure, she warmly returned the hug.
Ren could feel the intensity of Vince's gaze burning into the back of his head, but he chose to ignore it. It had been a while since he last saw his best friend—three days to be exact—and he had missed her like crazy. Despite their regular video calls, nothing could compare to the warmth of embracing her in person.
"Congrats, Mr. Champion," Steven congratulated with a proud smile, giving Vince a side hug. He started talking about the combat, trying to divert Vince's attention away from plotting his brother's murder.
Vince took a seat and continued his conversation with Steve and the others, but his eyes remained fixed on the two of them. A disapproving expression lingered on his face at their excessive physical contact.
Arthur, Barbara, and the twins joined the breakfast table, capturing Vince's attention. He swiftly ended his talk with Steve and shifted his focus entirely to his sister, who was engrossed in a conversation with Ren, her eyes fixed on his phone as he showed her something.
"Rei, come and sit here," Vince called out, gesturing towards the seat next to him.
Before Miray could even reply, Arthur scoffed. "Stop acting like I'm going to jump on her every time I show up," he growled angrily. "I have no interest in her existence," he added, looking at her like she were a speck of dirt on his shoe.
