Luke held onto Miray's hand, his grip firm as he guided her back to the hospital. The sight of her pale and lifeless face stirred uneasiness within him, filling him with a mix of fear and concern.
Hence, instead of going to the hallway where Vince's room was, he gently led Miray back to her own patient room, insisting that she needed to rest.
It wasn't an easy task to persuade her, but the sight of the weariness in Luke's eyes made her relent. With a nod, Miray agreed to let Adam examine her heart and overall condition before taking some much-needed rest.
Luke, sitting on the edge of her bed, gently reached out to stroke her hair, his touch tender and delicate as if he feared causing her any discomfort.
With the back of his thumb, he lovingly caressed her soft cheek, tracing over the faint scars from the accident. His heart constricted at the mere thought of almost losing her. The memory of that terrifying moment haunted him, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of protectiveness towards her.
As he looked into her eyes, he saw a reflection of his own pain and worry. They had been through so much together, and he couldn't imagine a world where she wasn't by his side... She was his little sister, his precious Miray, and the idea of life without her was unbearable.
"I love you," he said in a hushed whisper, his hazel eyes locked onto her chocolate ones as he confessed his deep affection for his precious baby which he raised and cherished the most.
Miray, still lying on the bed, looked up at Luke, her eyes filled with a whirlwind of emotions.
"I love you too," she whispered back after a few seconds, tilting her head to place a gentle kiss on Luke's hand on her cheek and nuzzling it. The simple act of affection, although simple and innocent, managed to break Luke's composure as he leaned forward, enveloping her in a tight embrace.
"Thank you," Luke repeated like a mantra, his voice choked with gratitude and relief as he breathed in her sweet scent. At that moment, he felt an overwhelming sense of love and protectiveness for his sister, realizing just how much he cherished her presence in his life.
How grateful beyond words he felt to have her by his side... in his arms.
It wasn't until Miray felt the dampness on her neck that she realized Luke's tears were falling.
Luke was crying...
The realization tugged at her heart, intensifying her own emotions.
"Don't cry, L-Lou," she whispered, tears welling up in her own eyes - her automatic response to the sight of someone she loved in tears.
She gently pulled away from the hug with wobbly lips and reached up to wipe away Luke's tears, her touch tender and comforting. As she did, Luke reciprocated the gesture, his hands cupping her pretty face that he loved so much, and wiped hers.
"I'm sorry," she sniffled, her pout deepening as she withdrew her hands to cover her eyes, seeking solace by hiding them away from Luke's sad and pained gaze.
