"I can't bear the thought of having caused you so much pain..."

Vince slumped to the ground, pulling his knees up to his chest, and gave in to the overwhelming wave of tears that had been building up.
It was as though the veins in his heart were sharpened blades, mercilessly cutting into him from the inside. The pain was so all-encompassing that it felt like he was experiencing death over and over again.
It was because of him that she was suffering.
From the very beginning, she had been kidnapped because of his carelessness, yet she never blamed him. Now, the accident had happened because of him, and once again, she was the one paying the price...
Vince let out a gut-wrenching cry, his hands clutching his hair with such force that it felt like his fingers might tear it out. He repeatedly banged his head against the wall, consumed by a profound sense of pain and frustration.
Luke quickly slipped his hand between Vince's head and the wall, preventing him from causing further harm to himself. He desperately tried to calm Vince down and bring him back to his senses, but Vince was so deeply immersed in his misery that he seemed deaf to everything except the tormenting voices in his own mind.
All Vince could see was Miray's pallid face, drained of life. All he could feel were the stark contours of Miray's bones, a painful reminder of her fragile state of health.
Damian watched, regret coursing through him as he realized that breaking the news in this manner had only intensified Vince's pain. He wished he had followed the plan he and Luke had agreed upon.
He felt a deep sense of remorse for causing his brother even more suffering. But regret was futile, for what was done could not be undone...
It took a while before Vince had calmed down. Luke and Damian proceeded to treat his injury, using Miray as a means to convince him, explaining that she would feel terrible if he got hurt and that she would be terrified if she saw him bleeding. Their words seemed to get through to Vince, and he stood motionless, allowing Damian to tend to his injury.
Throughout the process, Vince remained unresponsive, his gaze fixed blankly on the floor, not even flinching as Damian worked on knitting his injury back together.
He felt dead.
His eyes drifted to the shirt he was wearing before, stained with blood, and his heart raced with anxiety.
Was it his own blood, or was it Miray's?
Oh God...
....
They returned to Miray's room, and Luke, understanding that Vince needed some alone time with Miray to heal his wounded heart and soul, made sure everyone left the room.
