Vince's eyes followed Miray until she got inside the house. "You can go." he said quietly, addressing the two boys in his car who seemed like they were waiting for him.

Rayan obeyed, but Noah didn't. He flickered a nervous glance at his older brother. "What about you?" he asked worriedly.

"I have things to do, you go first." Vince explained, trying to sound calm despite how angry he felt.

He didn't know why he was angry, or at who... but he just had molten anger rolling through him and needed to do something about it.

"What kind of things?" Noah pressed, not giving up. "I wanna go with you." he decided, avoiding his brother's eyes while he buckled his seat belt again. "Let's go." he said before Vince could even reply.

"Noah," Vince sighed, running a hand over his hair tiredly. "Just go to sleep, it's already late." he said, gazing down at the clock in his car.

9:30 pm.

It wasn't that late after all...

"You're being so unfair..." Noah choked up a little bit, blinking his watery eyes. "Do you not like my company?" he asked, sadness clouding his eyes.

There was something about Noah's tone that made Vince's heart sink deeper.

Couldn't he do anything right?

He reached for Noah's arm before he got out, holding him in place. "Sit down," he said quietly, "I didn't mean it that way. Of course, I like your company, don't be ridiculous..." he trailed off, reaching a hand out to stroke Noah's hair, who was glaring resolutely down at his lap, still refusing to meet his brother's eyes.

Noah's cheeks were flushing with the threat of tears.

"Look at me," Vince said, voice soft yet firm. His hand slid down his neck, holding his chin up with his thumb.

Noah looked up, tearful emerald eyes finally meeting his brother's warm gaze.

"I do like your company." Vince said slowly, keeping his gaze firmly on his brother. "Am I clear?" he asked when Noah kept silent.

Noah nodded, anxious eyes searching into his brother's wild ones. "Do you want to go alone?" he sniffled quietly, secretly wishing his brother would somehow change his mind and take him along.

He was scared.

He was scared Vince would hurt himself because whenever he got angry, he always came back with bruises.

Noah didn't want his brother to get hurt.

He hated it.

"I'm heading to the gym," Vince stated, half lying. He wasn't heading to any gym but to the underground boxing gym. "You sure you want to come?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow.

The last thing he wanted was to mess up his baby brother's sweet life.

Noah was different than him.

Noah was sweet and warm, lovely and innocent, and Vince didn't want to taint his brother with his darkness.

Therefore, when Noah nodded eagerly, eyes adorably hopeful, Vince changed his mind and decided to take them to Dylan's favorite gym.
