The plan had not gone well, surprise, surprise. The way that everything had gone down was what affected Hazel the most. In the surveillance position, Hazel, Skye, and Fitz had a front-row seat for the show.
Both girls saw just how much The Clairvoyant had changed Mike. The amount of metal they had seen under his skin showed them how minuscule amount of humanity he might have felt he had left. Even then, there was nothing they could do but guide their team to be able to fight as safely as they could from the weapon that Mike Peterson had become.
Even after Mike had weirdly disappeared, Nash had been found, and it was almost eery how clear Hazel was seeing the man. His words were the most striking she had heard yet.
You were simply a broken man who did not know he was broken.
The direct jab at Coulson bothered the blonde. The vegetable-like man had no reason to talk, being bound to a chair like he was.
But I will see you wherever you go, just as I saw you holding Skye in your arms. Bleeding. Dying. Knowing it was all your fault.
Skye's expression had fallen to that, her best friend reaching over and holding her hand in a frágil attempt to comfort her. The words from the computer made her feel uneasy, and she wanted to stop.
Just as I saw how Hazel bled out behind a table with a team that was supposed to protect her. Completely. Unaware.
The words were hard to hear. Fitz and Skye glanced at her, troubled expressions, as they tried to read the blonde. On the other side of the camera, Ward went rigid.
The specialist took a more aggressive stance, jaw clenched with his hands tightened around the guns he had been holding. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. How could he?
How could he say all this when it could be ripping Hazel apart?
"You're going away. We're going to stick you in a little box where no one will ever hear you again," Coulson had threatened, anger clear in his expression as he leaned down towards Nash.
I see you are angry. Head clouded with lies. You've been betrayed now you feel what is about to happen.
Coulson shook his head, not believing what he heard. "Nothing is about to happen. Just more empty threats from you."
No. It is inevitable. A force beyond your comprehension is coming for you. You, Skye, and Hazel. The girls have something we want. They will die giving it to us. I have seen it.
