Jennie
"I love this living room." Jisoo says, taking in the room. "Ella's art pieces doesn't seem out of place either."
Lisa's house looked like a bachelor pad. The grey and yellow theme continued into the living room. Three of the walls were a light grey while the fourth wall was papered in a yellow and dark grey diamond pattern. The floor was laminated with a similar dark wood coffee table. Although it screamed bachelor, the addition of Ella's art pieces and now pictures made it seem cosy. I still saw the house as Lisa's but every day, I felt more confident leaving something that belonged to me somewhere outside of my bedroom.
"While I still remember, when are you in work next?" Jisoo asks putting her tea down and pulling out her planner. Jisoo keeps it old school for being organised, preferring to use pen and paper instead of her phone. She'd dropped the boys at school and come around to Lisa's, well and my, place to catch up. I think she just needs some female time since she's always in a house full of men. Something Ella and I had offered for the couple of months that we'd lived there with her family.
"Monday, Wednesday and Thursday."
"This Monday?"
"Yeah." I draw out.
"Shit, I was afraid this was going to happen."
A sick feeling comes over me, so far, we've been lucky and our schedules have worked out. Jisoo rarely has to actually go into the office after all, she does her main scope of work at home. "You've got to go into work." I say, stating not asking.
"Yes, I have a meeting that I can't get out of, Hae-in is having to take the boys to school that day. I'm sorry Jen."
"No, it's no problem, I'll see if I can swap my shift or something, I'm grateful that you have her as much as you already do."
"I know that. You know I love having her around."
"Afternoon ladies." Lisa says around a yawn, while popping her head into the living room before walking into the kitchen. She was on day shift yesterday and starts her night shifts tonight, so she has spent the morning sleeping in .
When I look to Jisoo, I see her looking after Lisa even though she's in a different room. The gears obviously are turning in her head. It always makes me nervous when she pulls that face.
"Hey, Lisa?" Jisoo suddenly calls out. Oh no, I suddenly realise where this is all going.
"What are you doing!?" I grit out before Lisa enters the room.
"What can I do for you, Jisoo?"
"Oh, you don't want to make propositions like that with me." Jisoo says with a smile and a wink.
"I think I could handle you. Want to ditch Hae-in and take a walk on the wild side with me?" Lisa says, while sitting on the arm of the sofa next to Jisoo. What the hell is happening?
"Wouldn't be my first time." Jisoo says smiling into her mug.
"What!?" I splutter.
Lisa cracks up laughing, "I always knew you were a wild one, Jisoo. Now, what did you call me for?"
"We have a little problem; you see I have to go into the office on Monday."
"And Jen's working. I just finished looking at the calendar." She says by the way of explanation to my shocked reaction. "I'm off on Monday so I can take Ella for the day."
"That's really kind of you." Jisoo says with a satisfied smirk, totally very proud of herself.
I simply stare in disbelief.
Lisa looks to me and sees my reaction. "That is, if it's okay with Jen."
"I... I just don't want to put you out."
"I know you don't like asking for help. This is me offering, I'm not being pressured even if Jisoo did orchestrate it. I've looked after my nephews and niece, loads over the years and always return them in somewhat the same state when I was given them." She says with a cheeky smile.
Jisoo and Lisa both look at me with a grin on their faces, encouraging me to say yes.
"Okay, thank you."
The two monkeys on the other end of the sofa high five each other. Oh gosh, what did I just agree to?
