Claire and I got to Subway and ordered up our favorite subs. During our lunch time, we talked about the other things we've done in the summer. She told me that her parents are getting an annulment, which doesn't really sadden me because her mother was a total bitch. Well, her step-mother I mean. Claire could care less about that bitch; she doesn't even acknowledge her. You see, Claire's mother died when she was 8 years old. Died from a car crash. 2 years after her mothers death, Mr. Morgan married that bitch. She takes advantage on Mr. Morgan just because he's the owner of several successful corporation here and overseas.

It appears my close friends have rich family. First Nolan, now Claire. Well friend now, remember?

Claire happens to be the only child of her family. When she turned 6, Mr and Mrs. Morgan decided to have another baby, but sadly, Mrs. Morgan had a miscarriage. Knowing that Claire is the only child makes me quite envious. Don't get me wrong, I have a little sister, Maddie, and I love her to death. She was once a sweet and innocent little girl. But that innocent little girl grew up to be a 13 year old pain in my ass. No matter how much she annoys me, I still love her. Under the circumstances that we have been, she needs love and comfort and give her that. As for me, if she's happy, then I'm happy.

We got back to school and dread throughout the day. Normal schedules is 5 classes a day, but I only have 3 classes because I got my major classes done. When my 3rd class dismiss us, I took a detour to the library. Yes, I do indeed hang out at the library. Part of being the schools geek. I had 30 minutes to spare before picking up my sister at her middle school and going to work.

I sat down, pulled out my SAT practice book, and start practicing. I have to focus, not only on my classes, but also on this SAT because prestige colleges looks at the score you make on the test and also your
GPA.

30 minutes later, I got home, washed up, changed into my work uniform, and drove off to pick up my sister.

"Are you coming home late again?" Maddie says, doodling on her sketchbook.

"Most likely, yeah."

"Please tell me you are taking me to anyone besides Granny Adams. She always wants me to do puzzles and knit with her."

Shaking my head, I make a turn, entering the street that we live in. Ms. Adams, or Granny Adams, live a couple blocks away from our house. Was once married, but lost her husband to cancer.

Maddie groans. "Damn, you are taking me to her!"

I drive up onto her driveway and park the car on the parking spot. "Madison, she's a nice old lady who's willing to watch you while I'm at work. Did I mention that she's the only person that would watch you?"

She rolls her eyes, stuffing her sketchbook into her bag. Granny Adam walks out onto her porch, waving at us. Giving her a slight wave, I get of the car, and so does Maddie. I walk up to her and give her a hug.

"Thank you again, Granny Adams. I can never thank you enough. You should accept the money I give you for watching over Mads while I work."

She scoffs as she slaps my arm. "Nonsense, my boy. I told you time and time again. I want to do this, not that I have to do this. Which means I'm doing this free willingly."

Sighing, I nod my head and give her another hug. I look over at Maddie and give her a hug as well. "Don't give Granny Adams a hard time, okay? I'll try to come home early."

She nods then kiss me on the check. Walking back to my car, I check the time on my wrist watch. I have 15 minutes until my shift starts. I got in my car and put the key in the ignition. Looking up to the front porch, I wave them a last goodbye. They wave back and walk into the house. I start the car and drive off to work.
