"Miami?" I ask. Once the plane has securely landed and checked, we all head out, walking down the stairs, connected to the door of the plane.
"Yeah. My uncle owns a beach house here, so that's where we are staying for today and tomorrow." Claire says, grabbing her shades from her bag. "I'm just wondering.." After taking out her shades, she looks at Xavier and I, as we walk behind her. "How did you invite Calvin when you." Pointing to Xavier. "Didn't know each other until last night?"
"Well, after you guys left, I bumped into Calvin when I head to my car. We talk for awhile, mostly about you. Then, you've texted me, invited me to this. Little did you know that I was still at the carnival, talking to Calvin. You wanted to surprise Scott, so I decided to surprise you." Claire quiets for a second, understanding what Xavier just said. Then, a wide smile appears on her face as she runs towards Xavier, giving him a big hug.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!"
Xavier and I laugh, while Xavier hugs her back. "You're welcome."
"Come on, kids. Car is waiting." We hear Mr. Morgan calling us, standing next to the car with a relax looking Calvin and an eager Maddie. I guess Mr. Morgan and Calvin had their talk and it probably worked out. Although it's weird because Calvin and Claire aren't dating, but at least if they are, her dad gives the approval, right? Claire and Xavier let go of each other, and then, we walk to the car. For the entire car ride, I just stare out the window. Claire explains her family to Calvin at the back, while Xavier just holds my hand, listening to his music. We, then, arrive at the beach house after an hour or 2 of driving. It's not as big as her mansion in California or her home in Oregon, but it's just as beautiful. We enter the premises, parking in front of the path that leads to the front door. We see the door open, revealing a middle age man and a little red-head girl.
"Jim. It's good to see you again, brother." The man comes up to Mr. Morgan, giving him a hug. "Carlos. It's good to see you too. Hello there, Amelia." After letting go of his brother, he bend down to the little girl, Amelia, nudging her head. She giggles, then hug him.
When Claire stands next to me after getting her bag in the trunk, I lean against her, whispering in her ear. "Who's the little girl?"
"Amelia. She's my adopted cousin."
"Adopted?" I ask.
"Yeah. Amelia was once in a family of abusive parents, so when my uncle found her in the streets, beaten and broken, he took her in. All though, he had some challenges with her parents and went to court for custody, he still treats her as his daughter. This happen during the summer, by the way." She states, then walks up to Amelia and giving her a hug.
"Nice house." Xavier says, holding my hand as he carries both our bags. I nod, smiling. Xavier and I, then, walks to the front door with Calvin and Maddie in front of us.
"Welcome to my lovely home." Carlos says as soon as everyone enter his home. "Bedrooms are upstairs. Claire, would you show your friends?" Claire nods. "After settling down, the dining room is that way." He points to the left hallway, which leads to an open doorway. "The rest of the family is here and we are beginning the reunion." Carlos and Amelia, then, walks to the dining room as we head off to the upstairs.
"Scott and Maddie, your room is through there, to your right." As we to the upstairs, Claire points to her right. "Xavier, Calvin, there two extra room through there." She points to her left. "One room on the first right. And second room on the third door to the left." We all disperse after Claire declare our rooms. Maddie and I walk into our rooms, seeing two twin beds and a balcony. I settle mine and Maddie's bag in the closet.
"Scott?"
I turn to Maddie, seeing her look at her sketchbook. "Yeah, Mads?"
"Come look at this." She hands out her sketchbook to me. I take it from her hands, looking at the drawing she made. In the picture, it's a family on a beach. The boy and the girl are playing while the two parents cuddles up in the sand, watching their children.
