Chapter 38

New Years Eve.

I don't know my plans for the day, but I know for sure that I'm going to have Maddie with me. After what happened on Halloween, I don't think I'll ever leave her by herself, or without me anyways. The days after she woke up, we spent more time with each other, with the company of Nolan of course. She enjoyed my gift from Nolan, since every morning, I'll see her downstairs in the living room, playing with Lexi. I remember the day I took her home from the hospital.

After we watched a movie in the living room, she headed up to her room while Nolan and I clean up downstairs. Later on, I went to her room to say goodnight. I walked in and saw her crying in the middle of the bed.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I sat right next to her, putting my arms around her shoulder. She leaned against me, placing her head on my shoulder.

"I was so scared, Scott. I didn't know if I would every wake up." She sniffed, wiping her nose. "I tried. I tried everything to wake. I guess it took a lot of time to do so." She lifted her head, looking at me with her teary eyes. "I'm sorry, Scott. I didn't mean to make you worry and scared."

"Hey." I wiped a fallen tear. "It's okay. You're here now. That's all that matters. And you shouldn't be sorry. It was my fault. I shouldn't have left you alone. I should've been with you that night."

"No, it's not. I know you have a life. I'm big enough to watch myself. I guess I got to careless." She looked down, wiping her cheeks.

"It doesn't matter anymore, Mads. We are here. It's all in the past. For now on, I'm going to be here with you. I'm not gonna leave your side. We only have each other. I can't lose you. And your not going to lose me." Grabbing her, I pulled her into a hug, brushing her hair as she sniffles on my shoulder.

"I love you, Scottie."

"I love you too, Mads."

After our little moment of hugging and crying, I brought her downstairs, into the living room. We, then, decided to make a blanket fort, so we grabbed a lot of blankets and pillows. As I went to my room, Nolan just happened to come out of my bathroom, damped hair and only in boxers. I felt flustered at the sight, causing a blush to form on my cheeks. Nolan seemed to notice cause I heard him chuckle as he pulled up his jeans.

"Uhm .. Maddie and I building a fort and decide to sleep in there for the night. You wanna join?" I nervously asked him, trying to stutter at the sight of his visible abs and toned chest.

"Sure." He smiled at me, then went towards my bed to grab the blankets and pillows on it after putting on his shirt. We made our fort in no time and it turned kind of perfect. It's roomy and nice. We laid inside, Maddie sandwiched between Nolan and I. We talked and told Christmas stories. We even have a tickle fight; mostly tickling Maddie since she's the little on here. After awhile, we all fell asleep.

"Scottie?" I turn to Maddie as she stands at my doorway.

"Yeah?"

"Nolan is here. He is asking for you." She points behind her, grinning at me. Chuckling, I get off my bed after putting on my shoes, walking towards her.

I kiss the top of her head. "Thanks." I, then, walk pass her and down the stairs. Nolan stands in front of the door, looking up the stairs. He wears all dark color and warm clothing: black coat with a navy blue pullover, a pair of washed black jeans and gray boots. He also wears a backwards navy blue SnapBack cap. Groaning silently at the sight of him. Why? Why does he have to be so gorgeous?

"Hey Scott." He throws me his signature smile. The kind of smile that can kill you at the spot.
