Chapter 25

Halloween!

My second favorite holiday. The candy, the costumes, the scare. My favorite!

After the game, we went off to a nearby diner to celebrate. I was shock to see that Marcus and Christian joined us, knowing that they're not that comfortable with me, but they still showed up.

I wake up from my slumber, stretching my limbs as I get out of bed.

"Scottie. Scottie. Scottie!" Maddie runs into my room, jumping on my bed.

"Did you eat the candy corn I bought and hide?" Squinting my eyes at her. I see her look away, shoving a piece of candy corn in her mouth.

"You did, didn't you?"

"No ..." I start crawling to her, preparing to tickle her.

"Maddie!.." She looks at me, then at me upcoming hands. A look of shock and recognition on her face.

"Scott, you better ..." She starts to get away, but didn't get far because once she gets off my bed, I grab her by the waist and pull her to me. Then, the tickling starts to happen. She giggles as I tickle her sides.

"Scott ... Stop ..." She screams while laughing. I laugh as well, tickling her neck now.

"Okay. Go." I stop tickling her after a few more tickles. She quickly runs out of my room, slamming the door as she leaves. Jason Derülo's: Want To Want Me plays on my phone as my ringtone. I reach over to my bedside table and grab it, answering the call.

"Hello?"

"Happy Halloween, baby!" Hearing Xavier's deep husky voice through the phone cause me to smile.

"Happy Halloween, babe." I get off the bed.

"So .. Are you excited for tonight?" He ask as I walk downstairs and into the living room.

"I guess."

"What's your costume for tonight?" I hear ruffling in the background. I smile cheekily, even though he can't see me right now.

"It's a secret."

He starts to whine, causing me to laugh. "Come on, baby.. Tell me."

"Nope. You'll find out tonight when you pick me up."

"Fine."

We talk for a seconds more till he told me that he needs to some stuff for the party tonight. I go back to my room and take my morning shower. I was thinking about bringing Maddie to Midnight Cafe and gets some pumpkin pie.

"Scottie!" Laura runs up to me, giving me a crushing hug. Wheezing and coughing, I slap her back.

"Laura." Cough. "Crushing me!"

"Happy Halloween, worker buddy!" She squeals in my ear. I laugh once she lets go of me.

"Happy Halloween." We head to the counter; she goes behind it as Maddie and I sit on the stools.

"What would you guys like?" Laura ask. Maddie and I both look at each other, giving one another a knowing smile.

"Pumpkin pie please!" We talk at the same time. The Cafe's pumpkin pie are the best, drizzle with whip cream and tiny bits of candy corn. It's only for Halloween or the month of October.

"Here you go." Laura pass us two plates of a slice of pumpkin pie with a side of candy corn. Maddie and I dig into it while having a conversation with Laura.

"How's the pie?" We give her a thumbs up, which cause her to laugh and nod triumphantly. Once we finish our pie and have a little more chill time, Maddie and I said our goodbye to Laura and head out.
