Nolan P.O.V
Lifting weights at the school gym is what I've done since I got to school early. 30 minutes till class starts, so I have time. I head to the showers after working out my biceps and chest, feeling kind of sore from the work out. I have to be on my A-game next week for UPenn's scout. UPenn is one of the colleges I'm trying to get into. If you don't know, generations of Phillips went and graduated from UPenn. My dad was the last to graduate from his generation, so now it's my turn. I can't disappoint whoever the scout is. I know I can lead my team to championship again, but lately, I've become distracted. In practices, in class. I work too hard to get where I am; I can't let this get to me ... Whatever it is.
After showering and changing out of my work out clothes, I head out the locker room, leaving my sports bag in there. I see the guys, talking by Paul's locker.
"What's up, dudes." Giving them our handshakes and bro hugs.
"Not much. Just planning the Halloween Bash for next week." Christian says, eyeing up a girl across from where we are standing.
"Cool. It's going to be at your house?" Looking at Marcus. Marcus's house is huge and he's the only one living there. That house he lives used to be his grandparents, but after the passed, his grandparents' will grant him the house and everything in it. If you're wondering how he pays for the bills and stuff, well .. That's his parents money he's using to pay.
"Yeah, man. I got some booze stock up in the basement."
"Awesome."
Paul seems to be quiet. Ever since Xavier came out to us, he's been awfully quiet, only laughs and speaks occasionally. At times, I would see him looking at me, giving me some weird looks or just blankly staring.
"Has anyone seen Xavier?" I ask, looking at each one of them.
"Probably sucking face with that geeky kid." Marcus scoffs, folding his arms.
"His name is Scott." Paul says, closing his locker.
"Whatever. Don't you think Xavier is getting a little to distracted because of him?!"
"How so, Marcus?" Christian ask.
"He's been distant. Does anyone know where he disappear to over the weekend? He didn't show up to the emergency practice on Saturday."
Not caring at the conversation, I grab my phone from my pocket. I receive text messages from my dad and Nathan. Nate wants me to drive him somewhere after school and dad is informing me that he's taking another business trip in a couple of weeks. He takes a lot of business trips every year, but hey, if he gets money out of it, I'm not complaining.
"What do you think, Noel?" Marcus ask me, averting my attention away from my phone.
"What?" Confuse at what has been said between the boys.
"You weren't listening?" Christian ask.
"It's not important to hear and converse." That causes them to look at me weirdly, especially for Paul. He just stares at me, like he's analyzing me. I look at Paul, scowling a bit. "What?!" He shakes his head, staring some place else now.
"It's not important?" Marcus ask.
I shrug my shoulders. "Like I said before, Xavier can do whatever he wants. As long as he doesn't mess up our chances of winning."
"But you didn't hear me ... He miss emergency practice."
"I've talk to him about it. I'm going to work it out with him later on." The bell rings.
