Chatters coming off from the outside.Water droplets dripping from the dilapidated faucet near me.
The only light illuminating comes off a used candle in the middle.
Trying to move, but something restrains me. Pushing and pushing my arm and legs to move but nothing. Hearing metal clinking could only mean that I'm shackled up.
Trying to remember where I am, what happened, but can't recall anything.
Something wet seeping down my face.
The chatters stop.
The candle flickers.
Suddenly, a creaking noise appears and I could see more light coming my way. A silhouette of a person stands before me. Seeing it come closer and closer and I could smell the strong sense of cologne. It doesn't say anything. Instead, I feel a sting on my neck, causing me to lose consciousness. Before being fully unconscious, I hear the person say to me in a menacing tone.
"You'll never be found. Time is ticking. And so is your life."
***********
It was the day of prom. Literally, arriving to school, I could feel the excitement, radiating off majority of the students. The girls chatter amongst their other girls, bragging and telling their dresses and hair ideas while some of the guys explain their plans to spike the punch bowl or how to get this chick to bang him tonight to his boys. As for me, I'm not as excited as most of these people. I mean, yeah, it's prom; the night that most seniors will cherish forever and remember forever. And yeah, I guess this is my very first and last prom because in my junior year, I decided to stay at Claire's house and binge-watched The Vampire Diaries till the sun came up. Okay ... I'm freakin' excited. At least, for me, I can keep my excitement within me. Unlike ...
"Oh my gosh, guys! Prom is tonight!" Claire squeals once she spots us. Calvin trails behind her. The whole gang chills in the courtyard during lunch. Marcus and Paul tosses a ball to each other, making jokes and laughing. Christian is plaster to his phone, sitting on the bench by the big tree. Xavier lit a cigarette while he listens to his music and Nolan and I just sit on the grass with our backs against the bench. Noticing that Xavier is smoking, I grab onto the chip bag I finished, crumple it, and throw it to him, grabbing his attention. A startled Xavier, who was midway of inhaling the substance from the cigarette, looks my way with a raised eyebrow.
"What?" He asks, with a small smirk. Xavier knows how much I hate cigarettes and smoking, so seeing him with a lit cigarette an inch close to his mouth causes a reaction from me.
"Get rid of the cigarette, Xav." I scold him, smirking back. After seeing him flicker it away, I turn back to my best friend, who is, now, sitting in front of Nolan and I with Calvin behind her, holding her.
"Why aren't you guys excited?" Claire asks with a small frown upon her face. I feel Nolan shrug beside me. Then, a muscular arm wraps around my shoulder, which automatically makes me scoot a little bit towards his side and rests my head on his shoulder.
"It's just prom." Nolan says nonchalantly. With a flabbergasted gasp, Claire was shocked.
"WHAT?!"
Claire directs her gaze to me.
"He's joking, right? Prom is like the last event we, seniors, are going to experience. It's the night we could all be together."
