Flo Rida's "Going Down For Real" plays throughout the house as some of the teens dance and grind with red cups in their hands. The smell of weed fills the air, making me cringe. Red cups and beer bottles scatter throughout the living room and foyer. Xavier clamps my shoulder.
"I'm gonna get some beer. You want a cup?" I nod, smiling at him. He walks farther into the house, getting lost in the crowd. Also leaving me and Claire in the foyer. Claire sighs, dreamily. "This is what I've imagine a high school party to look like. I can't believe we are in one!" She clamps her hands together, leaning on me.
I put my arm around her. "Let's enjoy the night, ClaireBear."
We walk farther into the house as well, looking for the kitchen. Before walking into the kitchen, Nolan blocks our way, scowling at the both of us. "Who brought you and perky Penelope here? This is a party. Something you and her don't belong to."
Suddenly, Xavier appears behind Nolan, holding two red cups. "Actually, mate, I've brought them here." He, then, hands Claire and I the red cups. "Here you go." Afterwards, he leaves us with Nolan, face redden with anger. "You, two, need to leave. You are outcasts. Outcasts don't belong in parties.. Well, parties like this."
I step closer to him, feeling my anger rise. "Xavier is our ride here, so he's going to be our ride back. We were invited, so I'm just going to enjoy this party since I got invited. Same goes to Claire as well. Now, if you excuse us." I grab Claire's hand, roughly bump Nolan out of the way. As we get into the kitchen, teens screams, "Chug. Chug. Chug." Seeing a blonde boy doing a keg stand with two other boys supporting his feet. The blonde boy gives up, after someone calls out "56."
"56, Paul. You can do better than that." Paul gets on his two feet, swaying a bit. He, then, looks our way, widely smiling. Walking towards us, swaying on the way.
"Wow, Claire. You look mighty fine in that pretty dress of yours."
I spot my best friend, blushing, as she swerves her drink. "Well.. Uhm.. Thanks Paul."
"No problem, babe. Say, why don't we go somewhere private, huh?" He ask, wiggling his eyebrows. She scoffs, throwing her drink at him. "Ew."
She walks away with Paul, following closely behind her. I can hear them bickering at each other; Claire telling him to go away and Paul asking her to have some fun with him. Great. Now I'm alone in this gigantic cabin. What should I do now? Sighing, I take a sip of my drink, tasting the bitterness of the beer. So this is what beer taste like. I look outside the kitchen window, to see the backyard. Other teens are outside; talking to one another while drinking their cups, swimming in the gigantic swimming pool, chilling by the fire-pit. I also see Xavier talking to some guys and girls out in the backyard. Smiling at the sight, I walk out to the backyard. Cold chilly night. Good thing that there's a fire-pit. Even though I'm wearing a jacket and a jumper, it's still pretty cold out. I spot a bench near the slide of the pool. I sit down, placing my drink on the ground, once I get there. Taking out my cell phone, to see that's it's only 8:45 PM. We just got here 10 minutes ago and yet, I'm tired.
"Having a terrible time, are we, mate?" I look up to see Xavier, drinking his beer as he stands in front of me.
"Is it that obvious?"
"Well, we only got here minutes ago and you are sitting here, instead of dancing and partying your cute arse in there." Sitting down next to me, putting his drink down as well.
"Dancing is not my thing. And maybe, Nolan is right. I don't belong here."
"Then why did you come?"
Looking at him, confuse upon my face. "Excuse me?"
"You could have said no to my invite. You didn't, which makes me very happy that you didn't. But you could have backed out. And like I said, you didn't. So, what was the reason you came tonight?"
