Friday. The best day of the week. The day that's before the weekend, where we can lay off from school for 2 days and relax. It's also the day of the senior start-off party. The last 2 days was same old. Go to school, get occasional torture from Nolan, pick up Maddie from school, drop her to Granny Adams, go to work, then come home. That's what the 2 days consist of.
Xavier got excited when I said yes to invite. I can see excitement and happiness during those 2 days. Whenever he pass by me in the hallways, he would smile and say hey, causing the boys to look at both of us, confusingly. Xavier never smiles. He would always have this hard on look or smirks, but this time, it was a genuine smile. We would sit next to each other and work on our assignment in Parenting, since he and Nolan switch partners. And he also visits me at work... Well, that was only one time because I ask him to come, so we can finish the assignment on my break, but he still shows up. Claire was, no is, excited for the party as well. After talking to Xavier, I found Claire at her locker and told her about the party. She screamed in excitement, giving me a hard hug, which attracts the students in the hallway.
Claire and I sit in front of my locker; me doodling on my binder and her listening to her iPod. It's lunch time and the hallway is deserted.
This morning, when I was putting stuff in my locker, Xavier came up to me. "Don't forget about tonight."
"I won't." He smiled, closed my locker in the process. "Should I pick you up at you house?"
"Sure. I'll text you the address."
"Brilliant! I'll see you later, my lady."
Smiling at the conversation I had this morning, I close my binder. Claire takes off her earphones, then putting the iPod in her bag. "So, I'm coming to your house after school, right?"
Nodding my head, I stand up, picking Claire up afterwards. "Yeah, of course. You can come with me to pick up Mads, then to drop her at Granny Adams."
"Awesome. Tonight is going to be the best night of our lives. We are finally going to change our lives." She squeals, jumping up and down. I put my hands on her shoulders, calming her excitement. We walk off to the library (our hangout), linking our arms together.
A sudden thought pops in my mind. "Oh no.."
"What?" She asks, as we walk into the library. I look at her, eyes widen, mouth agape.
"I don't have anything to wear. All my clothes aren't really party material."
She waves off her hands, then drags me to our table. "Don't worry about that, Scottie, I went out shopping the other day, and knowing that your closet sucks, I found a perfect outfit for you to wear."
My eyes widen even more, feeling like it's going to pop out of my head. "Okay. One: I take offense to the closet thing. Two: you got me an outfit!? Do you even know my size?"
"Believe in my power of sizing and fashion. Trust me, you're gonna love it. It's a total eye-dropper." She winks on the 'eye-dropper', making me laugh at her weirdness.
"Fine. Let's see if your powers worked."
****************
I wait in my car at Mad's schools parking lot. Right after school ended, Claire decided to meet me at my house after I drop Mads since she needs to pick up the outfits at the mall.
I text Xavier, letting him know my address, and he replies, saying that he'll pick Claire and I up at 8. I hear the bell ring, and see bunch of middle schoolers exiting the building. Maddie and her friend, Riley, I believe, is walking out, arms link together, with two other girls besides them. I get out of my car and head towards her. She spot me, coming towards her.
