"No, not that way! That'll lead them exactly where they think we're going!" Xavier whisper-hissed at Enid, Wednesday, and Ajax.
Wednesday motioned Enid and Ajax toward Xavier. "Follow him. I will be behind you."
"Where are you going?!" Enid whisper-hissed.
"To throw off the scent--" Wednesday began, but was interrupted by Xavier grabbing her arm.
"There's no way in hell I'm letting you go off on your own again."
Wednesday glared at him as he pulled her away from the fight, but quickly had a change of heart when she saw the damage Michael Chapman had done to the side of Xavier's head.
"You are bleeding," she told Xavier.
He rolled his eyes in return. "Really? I had no idea."
"If you use a sarcastic tone all the time, no one will ever be able to tell when your life is in danger or if you are lying," Wednesday replied.
Xavier shrugged. "Doesn't bother me."
"Sit down," The girl instructed him.
"We're kind of on the run, Wednesday, that's not exactly possible right now--" The boy disagreed.
"A five-year-old could make better excuses than you are using right now," Wednesday replied, deadpan. "Sit down."
Xavier rolled his eyes and plopped onto the dirty ground. "Are you happy now?" He asked.
Enid glared at the two. "I know that you two are more than happy to be reunited right now, but stop flirting!!!!! We literally all almost just died!" She whisper-squealed.
Ajax chuckled, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend's shoulder. "It's okay, Enid. We're just waiting for them to leave. Then we can too."
"No. We can't," Wednesday counter-acted. "The Chapmans will go to Nevermore as soon as they leave. Principal Opal will have the world searching for us before the sun sets tonight."
Enid squealed out of fear. "But there's nowhere for us to go!"
"Yes, there is," Xavier muttered, looking up at Wednesday, hoping she was thinking the same thing.
"Where?" Ajax asked, dumbfounded.
"It does not matter right now. Everyone sit. We're out of sight, so they can not get to us. We are going to have to stay here until a little after they leave," Wednesday replied.
Ajax huffed and plopped on the ground right next to Xavier.
Enid frowned at the dirt and brushed off her skirt before sitting next to Ajax, leaning into his chest for comfort.
Wednesday did not take her eyes off of Xavier as she slowly sat across from him.
"So.... uh... what do you guys wanna talk about?" Ajax asked, trying to start a conversation.
Wednesday continued staring Xavier down as she replied, "Ajax, take your coat off."
"Uh--yeah-- that's not gonna happen," Ajax responded.
Enid crossed her arms. "Wednesday! You're my best friend! You can't just hit on my boyfriend like that!"
Wednesday's eyes flickered to the werewolf. "I am not hitting on your boyfriend, Enid. There is no need to feel offended."
Enid sighed and looked over at Ajax. "I guess she's not. Are you okay with taking off your coat?"
Ajax reluctantly nodded. "I don't think I really have a choice."
That comment was confirmed with a firm nod from Wednesday.
Ajax took his coat off and handed it to Enid, who then handed it to Wednesday.
