"I .. I didn't know that."

Halata sa reaksyon ni Atty. Quinn na hindi rin inaasahan ang ibinunyag nilang impormasyon tungkol sa totoong naganap noon at sa paglilihim mismo nina Treacher at Hunter kay Samuel rito sa sanitarium.

"Maski ako ay hindi rin makapaniwala nung una, attorney," singit ko bago nilingon ang dalawa na nakaupo sa kabilang panig ng mesa. Na nagkataong nakatuon rin ang mga mata nila sa akin.

Kasalukuyan kaming naririto sa opisina ng napakagaling kong psychiatrist. Tulad nga ng nasabi niya kahapon, ngayon pupunta si Atty. Quinn kaya pagdating na pagdating pa lang niya kanina ay agad niya na kaming tinawag na tatlo kaya nandito kaming lahat ngayon at nagmi-meeting.

I also anticipated that Hunter wouldn't be with us today because he mentioned yesterday that he was off-work. But it's just annoying that Atty Quinn didn't miss him and was still called here even though he had already left the sanitarium.

Nung una, nasa akin lahat ng atensyon nila dahil sermon agad ang isinalubong ni Atty. Albert sa akin at halatang tuwang-tuwa pa ang dalawa dahil kitang-kita nila ang pananahimik ko sa kinauupuan ko.

They want me to feel guilty. And yes, I am fvckin'ly guilty and I hate them watching me with those grinning eyes, like they're making fun of my powerlessness.

"Hindi ko pa sana malalaman ang lahat kung hindi ako pumasok sa kwarto niya," dagdag ko. "Kaya pala ayaw na ayaw nila akong papasukin dati doon dahil may itinatago pala sila sa akin. "Malinaw na sa akin ang lahat ngayon. At hindi rin ako nagkamali na ikaw nga talaga ang nakita ko sa bahay ni Samuel noong ini-imbestigahan pa lang siya," he said looking at Treacher.

"Yeah. That was me," hindi niya pagtatanggi.

"So, all these time, matagal mo na palang kilala si Raven?"

"That's right," nakangiting sagot niya.

Bakit napaka-kalmado pa rin niya kahit na isang abogado ang kaharap niya? Damn. I really hate his guts!

"If that's the case, why didn't you tell me about it sooner? We all wanted to assist him in receiving treatment. You need to have just told me about it so I could see how I might help," seryosong sabi niya na matamang sinabayan rin ang titig ni Treacher.

"I'm sorry about that. It's not that we don't have enough faith in you to handle it. Any information we have about Samuel that could jeopardize our objectives cannot simply be revealed. For the sake of safety, if you get what I mean."

"I did. But it doesn't change the fact that you hide him from Raven and you even lied--"

A soft chuckle made him stop from talking. It was coming from Treacher himself.

"I am certain that not all circumstances, you can tell the truth. Honesty isn't always the best policy when it comes at this point, attorney. I assume, you can comprehend that; you're a lawyer after all. You have to lie so as you can build trust between you and the people around you. Do you not know that most people care a lot about whether you have good intentions more than whether you're being honest by yourself? Lies are most beneficial when they're not selfish, so I did the lying for both Raven and Samuel. Not for you. Not for me. Not for anyone."
