"Of course." Paddy nodded.
Everyone had finished eating.
"Thank you very much for the meal Mistress Katey and the wonderful company." The Messners nodded to him.
"If you do not mind Paddy. Show me to the stable."
"Yes Elder Camarillo. Right away."
We left for the stable.
We had released all the animals a few months ago. The cages were piled against the walls.
I went along them touching them.
"What is she doing?" I heard the Elder ask Paddy.
"She is not a shifter Sir. She can touch them. It only tingles when she touches them."
"What happens when we touch them?"
"It burns us."
"Oh?"
I finished one pile then went to the next.
"Now I understand how you are able to keep them prisoners."
"Yes Sir or else we would have had to keep a continuous guard on them."
"I found one." I brought it over to the Clan Elder.
"Careful Sir. It will burn you." I told him.
"I will take my chances Kylie. Thank you." He took the cage from me. He grunted with the pain. Paddy and I watched him carefully.
"Very interesting."
He dropped the cage on the ground.
"I would like to test this cage. Is there someone who has scientific equipment?"
I looked at Paddy. I knew Athos did but he was in Loren closing up the house.
"Scott may have what you need Sir?"
"Can we ask him if I can test the cage?"
"Yes he should be in."
I picked up the caged. "Let us go find him."
"It does not bother you Kylie?" Elder Camarillo asked.
"No Sir. It just tingles when I touch it."
"Please do not hurt yourself."
"I will be careful."
We headed for Scott's quarters. Paddy led the way. He stopped at a door and knocked. A few seconds later Scott opened it.
"Hello Paddy." He looked at the rest of us.
"What can I help you with?"
"Elder Camarillo would like to know if he can use your scientific equipment to test one of the cages the shifters were in?" Paddy indicated the Clan Elder.
"I would be honoured to help you Elder Camarillo. I just hope I have everything you need?"
"So do I."
"Please come in Sir."
I handed the cage to Scott.
"The shifters can not touch this, can they?"
"No Scott they can not."
"I will make sure I am there to help him."
"Thank you Scott. We will leave you to your experiments."
"All right."
Scott showed the Clan Elder into his quarters and closed the door.
Paddy and I left for our quarters.
